Anyone have any experience owning and or driving a Lotus Evora.
Would really appreciate any thoughts.

Ok, so a Lotus is not a Mclaren but any thoughts?

I've been researching the Evoras for a few years. The labor cost of replacing a clutch....from a dealer is between $6-8K. Wiring harness issues plagues the first generations. Insufficient authorized dealers in my region as well.
I decided they we too risky for my taste.
The 400's look great and the 410 even better, but that is subjective.

eZg--Thanks for your thoughts. Yowwwzzza!
I drove a 400 a few weeks ago and must say it's a cool-looking car. Looks like a mini Mclaren without the funky doors. And it drove well.
But it's not a hundred thousand dollar car. Actually, it cost a hundred grand, but to my eyes it's $20k-$25k overpriced, for what it is and what it competes against. Also likely to incur steep depreciation.
A Lotus mechanic at a dealer told me they removed the engine temperature gauge (inside the car) because the car was overheating too often in traffic. Ah, what a brilliant idea. Don't bother fixing the problem, just the warning sign that there IS a problem. Those Brits are clever.
Thanks again for your thoughts.

I have seen some new 400's on eBay discounted to $85'ish. I don't think they are selling well at that 6 figure level.
Everyone says they drive like nothing else on the road. I dunno?!? But why tout such an everyday run-of-the-mill engine if it costs MORE to replace the clutch than a new engine would cost?? too goofy IMO.
All I know is that I have 2 'Project cars' already, and if I had a $100K+ car sitting around waiting for a back ordered part my wife would kill me.

I really like the looks of the 400 and the 410, but still think they are somewhat underpowered for the price point, and the reliability issues are concerning. If I had some cash to burn and wanted a unique car, I'd definitely get one. But for 85-90k, there's much better options out there unless you HAVE to have a unique car.
