So right now i have 2 911 turbos (997 and 993) and a boxster track car. my daily car is a e46 328i. im reaching the point where i find 4 cars excessive (my fiance has an e90 bmw) and think its timw to sell the 997 and the bmw and the car i keep coming back to is the e39 540i msport 6 speed. i dont like new cars and hate excessive technology.

Looking for a practical but fun car that is attractive, well built, and reliable. im an experienced DIYer so no labor costs to consider.

What are your thoughts on this vehicle for a daily use car and overall reviews of this model.

I will be paying up for a pristine low mile car and believe resale will be terrific.

I would reach a little higher and go for an e39 M5, one of my all time favorite car and much better than 540i.

Ive owned a 00 m5 in the past and didnt love it for a few reasons. id prefer to avoid the vanos issues on that model and believe it would be a bit high strung for my short commute
