I dunno, I think a Porsche enthusiast picking a Tesla sedan over three highly respected performance cars is a bit surprising, but different strokes.

Hellcat doesn't do anything for me, personally, but that's more of a stylistic issue. I love Corvettes, Mustangs and other American muscle. Even if your normal type is a sophisticated, proper lady that never misses a step, there's still something to be said for occasionally stepping out with a redneck mama who wears a cowboy hat and does the two-step.
Both are appealing in their own ways.

I've rented a number of cars in this category - Mustang GT, Shelby Mustang GTH, Challenger SRT, Camaro SS, Corvette (not the newest generation), and they all feel big, heavy, clumsy, and a lot of fun to roast the tires in when they're rentals, but don't really see any of them ending up in my garage, but my 997 frame of reference is also unique in that my car doesn't need more power (475 with the SC) and has suspension upgrades that are hard to match in much else, so I get all the 997 benefits of lightness, a nicely equipped leather and CF interior, exceptional handling, without the normal drawback of it not having plenty of power. To be honest though, I drive my wife's 997 C2S and the car stands on it's own merits, even without any of those upgrades - I just prefer that type of car to the muscle-car.
My 928 feels more like these others with it's supercharged V8, Z06 6-speed trans, etc, so don't see the need for any of these other offerings. Of all of them, I like the feel of the Mustang the best (the Challenger is just too big and heavy) so a Shelby GT350 is the one that I could see having some interest in at some point - you can't compare the Corvette because it's missing any type of rear seat and we use those in the 911s frequently with the kids.

Race Car
I have never owned an American car. Lots of 911's, Jags a couple of Ferraris, Land Rovers and a Lotus.
I rented a C7 Stingray on a whim. That car is a slam dunk world performer. No more cheap interior parts, wonky suspension and iffy reliability.
You can rent one for about $150/day. If it doesnt make you smile, check your pulse.
Ill get one one day, its just too much fun to pass up.

For what it's worth I have always liked corvettes but have always loved 911s. My best friend and his wife own several vettes- 68, 03, 05... and they have little interest in my poor 911. But I still like theirs. Some people have to hate on others but me... I like them all for what they are! Hellcat, Vette, Mustang, Camaro, 911, Lotus, Tesla, even an old boxter turns my head. Just drooled over an old Chevelle convertible the other day.

This is odd. The OP must have deleted his original message, and since I didn't quote his original post, the Internet Brands system has made me the thread starter, which I wasn't. If you guys want me to leave it open as a discussion thread I will, otherwise, I'll probably close it.

Yea keep it open.
DC911S, from what Ive heard the Zora will be sold along side the C7's. I think they will keep the front engine Corvette alive, because the projected base on the Zora is $150,000. This will be Chevrolets GT40. Without the $60 Vette.....thats gonna kill a lot of history.

...a lot of history and a lot of profit...
A move like this if done right, gives GM the opportunity to create a Corvette brand, not just a model lineup. As you said, think Ford with the Mustang Line & the high-end GT40. To some degree, think Chrysler with all the regular models, then those select ones from the SRT group. Think Porsche with all the normal sports cars (Cayman, Boxster, 911, etc) and then the Supercars - Carrera GT & 918 - a lower segment & a much higher segment, though Porsche isn't be best example because they've not just created 2 segments, they've created a hierarchy of them - Boxster & Cayman, all the 911s where the base model & Turbo S model are almost their own two brands, then the GT cars are the next level up, then the supercars).
Chevy could continue to target the Corvette faithful, while offering something completely different to bring in people who wouldn't buy the current Corvette for whatever reason - those from Porsche, Aston Martin, less expensive McLarens, etc. and they might find a few from the Z06 & ZR1 group that also make the leap up.

Race Car
I spoke with the GM of one of the top Corvette dealers in the nation at length about this during purchase of my GrandSport. He said the Zora is going to be sold along with the traditional Corvettes - priced closer to 150k.

I sat in the C7, being almost 6'5".....me no fit at all. I wiggled and wiggled and adjusted the seat all the way down, still no fit even though the very pretty GM girl at the booth told me "you fit just fine honey".....I would have to join a Zora board just to see if they also get into the prissy allocation thread rants and lament about deviated stitching, and flippers....like you know who.

Burning Brakes
Tesla an appliance, funny. Guessing not too many folks have watched the Tesla street racing channel on youtube where a stock Tesla decimates everything that it comes up against, regardless of displacement, induction, etc
Porsche just announced they are leaving LMP1 for formula E. The future is not our 1800's technology petrol burners, that is the burden we inherited from our grandparents' generation.
So yes Tesla and no not another huge displacement, cheap, POS from Detroit for me. Just my opinion and no worries if others don't agree
Another opinion- oil burners will be illegal within a generation. What has happened with cigarettes is coming to cars.
