Open exhaust track day. I have been running with them for the past seven years and there are still some openings in "Group 2" which is the advanced solo run group. However do to a family illness I will not be able to attend this year.
"As always our event will be the weekend after Memorial Day, Friday June 2 and Saturday June 3, 2017. Our name has changed but the people who run the event has stayed the same. The event will be an open exhaust event. The event will also have a race group for 1960’s and 1970’s (HRG) closed wheel racecars and a few groups of VSCCA vintage racecars. You will get to watch some of the best vintage racing in the United States.
This event is not just for racecars. It is open to all cars. We will have 2 groups of non wheel to wheel racing on one of America’s premiere racetracks. These 2 groups will be run under touring car rules. No passing in the turns.
Friday morning starts with a tech inspection of your car and a mandatory drivers meeting at 8:30. First car is on track at 9:00am. We can bring the cars to the track to set up late Thursday afternoon. Some tech inspection will get done Thursday if possible. Tech inspection will open again at 7:30am Friday. Driver’s meeting at 8:30am Friday. Friday and Saturday touring groups will be on the track first. We can’t start un-muffled race engines till 10:00am.
As in the past there will be a party Friday evening after 6:00 PM at the track. Everyone is invited.
We have free use of the camping area Thursday night and Friday night along with the new bath and shower facilities for those who wish to camp out on the grounds. The snack bar will be available for breakfast and lunch.
This event has always been run as a family event. Try and get your whole family involved. Everyone that works on this event is a volunteer. No one is paid. We can always use extra volunteers to help make the event run smoothly. To maximize track time the touring group’s muffled cars will have to be the first groups on the track Friday. We can not run un-muffled engines till 10:00 am on Friday. The 2 groups of muffled cars will have the first hour of track time. We have use of the racetrack both Friday and Saturday until 6:00 p.m.
We would like everyone to have his or her car pre-teched before you get to the racetrack. If anything is found wrong or unsafe on the car when you have it pre-teched you will have plenty of time to fix it. Please bring your completed inspection form with you to the track (do not mail them with your entry form). Pre-tech can be done at any race prep type shop or dealer. If you can’t get to one of them please call to make other arrangements.
The owner/entrant understands and agrees that motor sport activity is an inherently dangerous activity and assumes the risk. The owner/entrant is solely responsible for the condition of his/her vehicle at all times."
