Default Driving Roads near Boston

I live in the back bay in boston and am constantly itching to take a quick drive on a fun twisty road. The only recommendations I have received is Storrow drive and around Larz Anderson. Both not great. Any recommendations from anyone living in the city would be appreciated.

Middlesex Fells. I had a fun 45-min, round-trip loop when we lived in Somerville. I just remembered that I sent a friend my route; it should make sense if you look at a map:

Take 93 North to S Border Rd. Turn around at the end of S Border; go back to the rotary and head north on Fellsway W. Make a right on South Street (make right 1/8 mile ahead of traffic light) and go past the Stone Zoo. Make a left at the second rotary onto Ravine Rd, and then go right at the light onto Fellsway E. Make a right at the next light onto E Border Rd, and then right at the stop sign onto Highland. Take Elm St off next rotary and that will kick you back out to 28. Make a left and head back to 93.

There are lots of places for police to sit, so check out the route before going too quickly.

There are some ok roads in the S. Shore but you’ll still need to watch for blind driveways which means it won’t be a spirited drive.

The closest roads that I found that were worthy of our cars was up in NH on the Kangamangus (SP).

And then keep going until you get to the Mohawk Trail and North Adams.
