Black 996 C4S with a roof rack on it on RT112 in Buckland, MA. Seen this one several times, does not sound stock.

I find it amusing - I tried high-beaming or thumbs up to a fellow Porsche owner once a few months back and my wife was like, people don't do that. I was like, hmmm I think they do. Used to do it with my V-dubs back in the day, why wouldn't Porsche owners do it? Now I know it's a "thing" because The Fat Kid said it is. 
Henceforth, I will begin to participate and try to remember where and what I have seen so we can build a stronger community and hopefully host more events and meet-ups.
Footnote: saw a 1990 C4 black, absolutely beautiful about 3-4 weeks ago on Rt 20 in Wayland at that liquor store, Wayland Liquors. Gentleman was very nice, but I didn't catch your name.

This weekend:
Sunday morning 356 Coupe and vert on RT112 in Colrain, MA about 5 minutes apart both heading towards RT2.
Sunday afternoon, silver 991 GT3RS or could have been a 991 GT2RS on RT63 in Montague/Northfield area, I was trucking and just able to toss a wave.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away - I think it was August 1969 - I drove a friend's 356 on the Cape and, at that time, I believe it was
the turn signal stalk that we would use to flash the parking lights if/when we saw another P-car on the road - a pretty rare event.
Now, in my town, Macan owners routinely ignore one another. Apparently a Porsche is now just a commodity - for some - or they're simply
not car aficionados, it's merely something to get from point A to point B.

On the "spotted" topic: I spoke to the owner of a 997 convertible earlier in the week in Dedham, and recently waved/flashed at least three 911s in the Dover area.

I think a couple Macan owners have waved to me (I no longer wave/flash) after nearly three years of driving a 911, but dozens of 911, Cayman, and Boxster owners have waved. A Macan and Cayenne are more of a fancy appliance versus an enthusiast vehicle. My mother drives a Macan GTS and I doubt she even notices other P-cars on the road.
The Macan and Cayenne is by far the enthusiast choice with far, far better dynamic range than their corporate brethren and other makers offerings.

I saw a couple (one black; one silver) 991.2s on Walpole St in Dover around midday.
Come one, we all know the "enthusiast choice" for a fun vehicle with respectable hauling capabilities is the GTI 
I always wave or flash other Porsches. ~1/2 of the time I’ll get a wave or flash back.... unless I’m in the Macan. I’ve never gotten a ‘flash back’ in the Macan.

Used to be true. No longer. GTI is now ‘focus-grouped’ into mediocrity. CarChick got one of the last two-door manual GTIs in the US back in ‘17. Said it was a wallowing boring pig. Traded it after 4 months.

Wallowing boring pig? Compared to a Cayman or 911, sure.
Regardless of comparison the GTI is a momentum car and I have never thought it underpowered for onramps, back-road runs, merging, etc. It does not feel feel particularly heavy, and loads up pretty well in corners. We have the DSG and the car is a blast when staying in mid-range RPM.
The biggest con is a lack of traction; throttle modulation is required from a dig even on dry pavement, and wet pavement can be downright scary when pulling out into traffic. The other main con is understeer at anything approaching 6/10ths, but that keeps my wife and other no-track-experience drivers out of a ditch
Bottom line: The GTI is an inexpensive, fun daily driver that can very comfortably haul four adults and gear, or even fit a 50-gallon hot-water heater (yup, I proved our builder wrong
) with the seats down.Sorry, back to Porsche-related content
