Hello, I am b1bcrewchief on the forum. My name is Kevin and I live in Lancaster. I have no posts as of yet but have been lurking about getting my knowledge up on 944's. I am looking at buying a 44 in Feb of next year and noticed you do work on them even traveling to work on them. My dad lives in lake arrowhead and I go up there often, I would like to talk with you b4 I buy as to maintenance on the 944's and possibly hiring you for some work on it when I pull the trigger and buy one. Much thanks for your time.

Off the square-body Volvo 240 cars. The shaft is black and the ujoints are aluminum. There is quite a bit of adjustability in length with that shaft. For the 944 steering rack you need to drill out the threads on the Volvo u-joint to fit a pinch bolt like stock, and open the gap a little bit. How much length do you need? A 924's intermediate shaft is about 2" longer than the 944 power shaft and I have one spare if you want it. Has the same splines though.

Interested in info on the volvo intermediate shaft with adjustable length. Will it fit the spline on a 944 power steering rack? Do you have the year and model of the Volvo?

I put a 944 PS rack in my Studebaker, and it fits well, now need an intermediate shaft of a different length.

There is something to be said for German engineering, and that something is usually #%@&%! when you find out how complicated and expensive it is to fix that engineering when it wears out or breaks.
