No problem, Kevin. Paint depth gauge just lets you know if it has been resprayed. For example, a normal car might have depth readings of 100-200 microns. A resprayed car might be 200-300 microns or so and a car with body work might be readings of 300-500 microns or even more if they used body filler. It isnt the end all be all but something you should check and see if they have one there. They buy a lot of cars and I would think they have one. Worst case, buy one on Amazon for $150 or so just to get an idea. It is worth the price to know that you aren't buying a car that has had body work. Steinels might and should have one too.

Joe, thanks for the response. I plan to head up and see it if the C4 GTS doesn't work out this weekend. And thanks for the independent shop recommendation. I was looking for a better option than Porsche dealerships given how far away they are. Another quick question, I've seen this "paint depth gauge" comment a few times but I can't say I've ever heard about it. What does it tell you? Obviously paint depth but can it actually tell if there has been body work?

    Thanks again! The hunt continues...

Hi Kevin, Yes, I saw the car originally at the end of October. I believe they originally had it listed around $61k, and they had it down to $56k at the end of the year. They then increased the price after the new year. I hadn't driven it, but I did look at it in depth and the paint looked to be good, I didnt put my paint depth gauge on it, but I maybe could at some point. Porsche Beachwood is probably an hour or so away, and Porsche North Olmsted is about the same. Steinels Autowerks is an independent shop and they are good. Let me know if you need anything else. Joe
