i am sure they are loosened if you are able to open and close the top. There is a hole above the back speaker, the bolt is in there. There should be a little round plastic cover over it about the size of a silver dollare. one on both sides. Once tightened that allows the motor to open and close the top. Loosening the bolt decouples it from the motor so manual operation is possible. i am sure you are good to go. I dont think i will watch, my aerobatic club is actually having a practice day/christmas party that saturday so I am going to try and make it up there for it. It is at a private airstrip outside of Sanger, TX. Bring a helicopter!

RAC is a good shop. I did my pre-purchase there. I have owned mine for almost 4 years and do all my own maint. I have been trying to get the courage (and time) to tackle a valve adjustment.

As far as the top, you are correct. Just unlock it and manually fold it back and that is it. I have a cover on mind so I am never worried about it becoming a parachute. One other thing I always do is unzip and lower the rear window first. This puts less stress on it and will hopefully last me longer. I assume you have already loosened the bolts attaching the mechanism to the motors for manual operation, i think it is a 19mm.

Congrats on your purchase. I can try to help as much as I can but the guys on the forum will be the best source of info once the issue is narrowed down. Is your top currently up or down? When you push the switch to activate the top does anything happen? Have you ever manually operated the top? Are you familiar with the process for manual operation? My top worked when i bought mine but I chose to manually raise and lower it because i have been scared of breaking a cross bow that can be costly. I simply use my switch to lock and unlock the top and then use manpower for the rest. The best indy shop that will be convenient for you in Fort Worth is Mayo. They are probably the best in the area.

I did fly Apaches and I miss it greatly. Very cool to meet another military pilot! The only flying I get to do now is a bit of fixed wing for fun.
