John, for clarification, is the G50-52 gearbox shorter than the G50-50?

I would like to swap out my 915 box on a 1980 911. I am told that the G50-50 will only fit on a 1987 or newer tub, 1986 and earlier tubs require cutting away a portion of the torsion tubes or shortening the bell housing and main shaft.

Just trying to figure out the differences between the g50-50 and G50-52.
