Yep...that's the kind of deal I'm looking for. The bonus is that it was an S model at that price.
I only started up the car and popped the frunk and engine lid. Without putting on a lift, I could not see any visible damage or signs of repair. They did a good job.
The newer tops seem to fair pretty well. The top on my 981 was far superior that what I had on my old 986. I didn't open the top, but I haven't heard of any common issues with the 991. Once you get her cleaned up, make sure to post some pics.
Yes wait on a good deal without getting desperate. I was a bit concerned about the accident but it seems like it was repaired at a Porsche dealer, they matched the paint perfect and not noticeable when i opened hood. It was kind of raining too at time I was buying the car and didn't open the convertible top and I still haven't since my garage is full of stuff. Did you open the top when you saw it? Also, anything else you noticed other than the levers and chrono gauge not working?
I had an Audi S4 a long time ago and its a super fun car to drive I can imagine the S5 is much better.
Hey...good for you!
Yes, I'm local and drove over to look at the car. It was overcast/rainy and chose not to drive it as I was short on time. Overall, it seems like a nice looking car, especially considering the mileage.
We put a pool in this summer, so sold my 981S to free up some cash. From there I bought a 2010 Audi S5 to tool around in, but I already miss driving a Porsche. My only concern was the accident history if I ever wanted to sell the car. Prior to my 981, I had a 2005 997 with a CARFAX report/accident way back in 2007. Although the car was immaculate inside and out (and only 28k miles), I got killed on resale when I purchased the 981.
Hope to see some more posts from you and enjoy the car! I'm looking at a 2013 991, black with tan interior. Around 70k miles, but stripped down base. No problem as I'll just wait out another good deal.
Hey Jeff, yes the car looks great! Paid $39k out the door. I made the purchase on Monday afternoon, driving back from North Carolina I had gone to see another Porsche but I wasn't convinced. We're you able to see the car in person?
