Thank you so much for clarifying. I really do appreciate it!
We recently bought a CD equipped with the factory tow package. I have located the harness plug-in under the dash and had thought I'd install a Tekonsha P3. Apparently the P3 requires a relay to supply a clean/strong brake activation signal to the unit in order to work properly. But then I found your post describing your very nice Redarc install and wanted to duplicate it. I am glad to learn that I do not need to construct a wiring harness incorporating a (possibly noisy) relay. And I understand better now where you installed the control unit. I am going to take a deep breath and attempt to duplicate your install of the control knob just below the fuel gauge, although 'taking an air saw' to the dashboard as you describe is a bit daunting!
Sure like your redarc install in your Cayenne. I'd like to duplicate it. Can you tell me where and how you mounted the control unit please? Did your redarc operate properly without use of a relay to supply the brake-pedal signal cleanly?
