Sorry Mats but I don't have those specs you're looking for. All the machine work on the heads was done by the M96 expert here in the US - Len Hoffman.

I`m in the process of engine rebuild. I have have new nikasil cylinders from Hartech in Uk and wössner pistons for my m96/03 engine. The problem is i can`t find value for cylinder head valve spring load or hight. My head valvs are re`cut, but i didn`t measure them before cylinder head work. Do you have the spec or did you measure your valve spring hight or load before head work?. You did change all springs if i remember correct.

Hi Ahsai. I see you have an '03 C2. I also read one of your posts (I think) where you had to replace your AOS twice because of a faulty new unit.
I'm replacing my AOS on an '03 as well. Wondering if you had any tips to getting to the AOS mount screws. Looks like they're vertical on the mk2, rather than horizontalish on earlier models. I got through the easy part yesterday before I ran out of time. After work today, I'm going to try to tackle the last intake screw, and R&R the AOS (with a Motorsports unit). just cant visualize how to get at the aos screws. Were you able to get the last intake screw out with the aos still tight? sorry for the long msg..

Oh no, that's just an optical illusion. No mods to the headlights.

In your profile pic, it looks like you've painted the headlight housing behind the clear plastic. Is that the case, or a trick of the light? If so, what was your experience like getting that done?

Hi John, yes, it does. There are two very skinny coolant lines going into the AOS. All 996s are like that. Only the AOS of the Boxsters don't have those coolant ports.

Ahsai, got a ?, does coolant flow thru my AOS on my 04 C2 ?

Yeah, if there was recent work in the engine, I supposed that's possible. I guess just keep an eye on the coolant tank and coolant temp then.

Thanks for the quick reply. I called Porsche that did the PPI and of course they said the technician inspected the expansion tank and found nothing wrong... which I believe highly improbable. I cleaned the majority of that gunk sitting in the coolant tank around the walls and top of reservoir and now there is just a slight layer on the surface.
Of course anything is possible, but my belief is that given the engine was worked recently, it could have had a problem like this which was fixed and there was some residual dirt in the cooling system. This car has barely been driven in the past few years and perhaps my long trip home to VA from when I picked it up in PA might have moved some stuff around a bit.
No signs of coolant in oil, oil pressure is good and temperature never goes past the 8 at the 180 mark.
I am crossing my fingers it might need a coolant flush and a new expansion tank/cap. Worst case scenario in my hopeful world would be a oil cooler replacement.
