Hey - we met a long time ago at a DE event (I had a red 87 targa). I now have an 88 couple and I've begun tearing apart the engine for a very deep clean. I was wondering, do you by chance have a camshaft sprocket holding tool? I'm hunting around for one that I might be able to borrow in the Dallas area. If I can't find one, I'll just buy one, but seems like a product that I won't use all that much. Cheers, Mike
What we do is print on glass, architectural panels. Mostly ceramic frit that is fired into glass, art, logos, and traction surfaces, glass stairs etc. odd enough we have a Seiko V64 that didnt work out on a product and would like to sell off if interested....good for banners, vinyl and car wraps etc.
Live close by in Keller -Roanoke by the way.
Thanks for your email. We have determined the cylinders are scored. The engine is out. The problem is that the the warranty co. is saying "we don't care that the engine is scored, we are only going to cover it if we can prove that it was caused by the failure of an internal lubricated part (e.g. the piston rings)." They are mandating that we tear the engine down further to see if the rings are faulty. That's why I was wondering if anyone has actually done this. I am very interested in getting the contact info. for the Porsche Dealership you dealt with, the name of the mechanic, etc. I did talk to my service rep. Porsche, and showed him this thread, asked if he knew anything about 04 Cayennes having issues, and he said "No. He's seen 1 other 04 Cayenne that needed new engine because scoring." Did you say that Porsche covered your engine? Did you have a current warranty, or did they admit something was amiss with this year/model, and cover you? I am in SF Bay Area.

Looks like I have a new project.... A/C clutch or compressor replace. I'm tempted to just replace the compressor, dryer, o rings..... and get it all done with. Apparently there is a kit for $699.00 that includes these items and everything else including oil to get the job done (also with instructions). What do you think? I had to cut the belt because it was making such a racket and draging on the engine.
I did a little 928 surgery last weekend replacing the dreaded blue hose... Asked Roger and Sean and they forwarded the cut in fender quick fix. I probably need to consider a master clutch cylinder and brake cylinder flush and replace (even though my fluid is pretty much replaced now!). Hope all is well.
