Agreed, $30,000 is pricey, but if you love the car, I'm sure it's well worth it. At this point I'm just trying to stabilize what I have, needs a clutch, coil packs and perhaps an 02 sensor or two.
I'm sure you're going to love the outcome, that thing will be one wicked hot rod!
And, thank you for the links, I will check them out.
Hi John, I should be picking it up next week. With all the aftermarket parts etc prob going to be close to $30k so not something most people would undertake unless they had to. But who knows
There is a Canada forum on the main Rennlist page under regional forums. Its quite active and has lots more details about the job. Its also in the 997 forum
I had a guy in Markham do it. The block was sent to the US
Hope that helps
Rick
Hello Vern & I'm in the Niagara Peninsula, in Welland and saw that you rebuilt your 3.8 997, turned it into a 4.0. I assume you had someone else do the rebuild for you? If so, may I ask what it cost you? I've often toyed with the idea, but not sure how far I'd take it. Have you driven it yet?
If you have a moment to spare, would love to hear your thoughts.
thanks,
John
P.s. is there a Canada forum for porsches that I'm unaware of? I have a set of snows I'd like to sell.
I am also in Toronto and looking for a top for my 993. Where did you buy your top or what brand was it so I can avoid it in the future. Was your installer any good?
Yes thats Darin Fisters place. He did the exhaust for my 993. I bought my 997 exhaust from another member. I should have mentioned that but thought you were looking for something in Toronto. Darin does great work - enjoy!
Thanks for letting me know Vern appreciate it...I think I've found the exhaust through a place called FD Motorsports in the US. Apparently they do the best Gundo hack! Have a good one!
Ed
I just picked up a 2006 C4 and did a google search for exhausts. Would you be able to let me know who did your Gundo hack for $300? Sounds like a good deal to me and the stock exhaust is just too silent.
