Description:
Many of you followed this car since I introduced it here in November 2020:
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-1990-a-2.html
After 5,5 years of ownership, approximately 15,000km / 9,320mi added, and a comprehensive mechanical restoration documented in that thread, I've decided it's time for the 964 to find a new home. Since the birth of our 3rd child 2y ago I just don't drive it enough. It deserves an owner who will.
Full details, professional photography, and the complete documentation archive are at:

Offered here is a 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupé finished in Linen Grey Metallic (L550 / Leinenmetallic) over black full leather. The car was delivered new at the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen on March 16, 1990 – a Werksauslieferung example, collected in person by its first German owner. Both engine (M64/01) and gearbox (G64/00) are matching numbers to the chassis. The odometer shows 207,000km / 128,600mi.
EXTERIOR
Finished in Linen Grey Metallic (L550), one of the most elegant and understated shades offered on the 964. The car was professionally repainted in its original colour prior to my ownership, with all disassembly carried out and shut lines properly aligned. It wears 17" Cup 1 wheels wrapped in 205/50 front and 255/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres, paired with Cup mirrors. Delivered without a rear wiper – the clean tail profile is factory correct.
Minor stone chips are present on the front lip, front trunk and right rear arch. Some marks on the rear bumper and engine lid. All consistent with 35 years and 207,000km of honest use. Detailed photos of all areas are in the gallery of the website.
All lighting has been renewed with genuine parts: NOS Bosch H4 headlights (2021), LED tail lights and exterior lighting via Bergvill F/X T-LED kit. All original light units accompany the sale.
INTERIOR
Black full leather as originally specified. The Turbo/Sport seats (factory option, code 383/387) were sourced from Speed Service in the Netherlands and professionally restored by Blinkt BV in 2025. The factory VDO instrumentation is complete and functional: central tachometer (6,800 rpm redline), 300 km/h speedometer, oil level/pressure/temperature gauges, quartz clock.
Heated seats (factory option, code 139/340) and electric windows are functional. Air conditioning was fully overhauled in 2021 (condenser, receiver drier, O-rings, R134a recharge) and still cools perfectly (it's not a modern car though! It's cold, not ice cold). The stereo is a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB with Bluetooth, appropriate, as the car was delivered with a Blaupunkt Bremen in 1990. Speakers are Hertz DCX and Audison Prima, installed behind the original grilles.
A small surface crack is present in the driver's door trim at the elbow, honest cosmetic patina imo.
DRIVETRAIN
The air-cooled 3.6-litre M64/01 flat-six was removed in 2018 and received a full top-end overhaul by Wisman Autobedrijf for Porsche specialist Wolbert Porsche: cylinder heads rebuilt, complete top-end overhauled. The result, as those following the thread have seen: the engine starts immediately, idles cleanly, and notably for a 964 shows zero oil leaks. Annual oil services with Motul 300V Competition 15W-50.
Power is sent to all four wheels through the original 5-speed manual G64/00 with the standard C4 all-wheel-drive system, including viscous-coupling centre differential.
SUSPENSION & BRAKES
Bilstein B6 sport dampers with H&R springs, fitted by JC Motors (Belgium) with all wishbone bushings, anti-roll bar bushings, and CV joint boot replaced. Full four-wheel alignment. Goodridge braided stainless-steel brake lines throughout. Brake rotors, pads, and wear sensors renewed front (2020) and rear (2021). Wheel bearings renewed (2021).
MODIFICATIONS & UPGRADES
Most modifications were researched through this forum and selected for reliability and driver enjoyment, not outright power.
- Performance chip: RS-type mapping with improved torque delivery, flywheel correction, tighter idle
- Solid-state DME relay (Focus 9 Technology) – eliminates the failure-prone original
- 993 C4S engine mounts for improved NVH (as recommended on this forum)
- Oil cooler modification (Kappi) – fan engages earlier, oil temperature and pressure consistently optimal
- Dansk 100-cell sport catalytic converter with cup pipe
- Rear spoiler ECU fully overhauled and tested by Bergvill F/X (Norway)
- T-LED lighting kit throughout (Bergvill F/X)
- FIA-compliant kill switch
- Tactico "Eau Rouge" steering wheel with custom leather horn button by Manuel Campuzano (Mexico)
- 993 dual-spring wiper arms (Bosch)
Werksauslieferung car serviced by Porsche Zentrum Seestern and Porsche Zentrum Düsseldorf from delivery through 1997. Subsequent ownership at Blankemeijer Porsche (NL), Porsche Centrum Rotterdam, Theo Jansen (NL specialist), and Elfer Porsche Classics (NL). Top-end engine overhaul in 2018 by Wisman Autobedrijf for Wolbert Porsche. Pre-purchase inspection in 2020 by Porsche Classic Center Gelderland (the world's largest Porsche Classic Centre) all advisory items have subsequently been addressed.
Total documented expenditure under current ownership: approximately €18.500 / USD 21,350 in parts, labour, and professional services.
