Description:
Considering selling my 2006 Cayman S 6MT. Guards Red over Sand Beige, 96k miles, lots of recent maintenance and needs nothing to drive anywhere. Only considering selling to get something more 'family friendly' (likely a 996 Turbo) so I can take more than one kid with me. This is one of the best drivers' cars you can buy regardless of price, in my opinion.
I purchased the car out of Ohio in April 2019 with 73.6k on it. The previous owner used it as his weekend car and sold it to me before having his first kid. It was a Florida car prior to that, so I think I'm the 3rd owner. I used the car as a commuter until March 2020, and now that I'm working from home I drive it when I can.
No issues, no stories, no compromises - get in and drive it anywhere. IMS is not an issue on these cars, and while bore scoring can be, this car burns no oil and shows no signs of scoring. I never let it idle to warm up, and its warm-weather past helps as well.
Mods include:
Borla cat-back exhaust
Numeric shift cables (stock ones will eventually snap)
Wevo motor mount
Bilstein B8 struts/H&R springs
AASCO LWFW
Recent maintenance includes:
-Clutch MC, pilot bearing, clutch, LWFW, Wevo motor mount, stock tranny mounts (Oct '21, 93k)
-Bilstein B8 struts/H&R springs, strut mounts, LF wheel bearing, water pump, Conti Extreme Contact tires (Apr '21, 90k)
-PS window regulator (Oct '20, 87k)
-Battery (Dec '19, 83k)
-DS inner & outer CV boots (Sept '19, 77k)
-Horn, front rotors, inner tie rod ends (May '19, 74k)
Minor issues include a good rock chip on the front bumper, and dent/scratch on the PS rear quarter, chip on the DS door, and an occasional CEL 0420 for Post-Cat O2 sensor efficiency. I clear the code with a BlueTooth OBDII adaptor paired to my phone. It passes emissions that way, no problem. Underlying issue could be a failing cat or O2 sensor, but it hasn't gotten any worse in the 3+ years I've owned the car. The underlying paint is in great condition, but a good detail wouldn't hurt things. The car shows well. Detailed records of all maintenance and gas fill ups under my ownership are available, and all of the work was performed by Porsche specialist Brandywine Motorwerks of Newark, DE.
Asking $26,987, supported by some recent sales of similar cars on BringATrailer...the best comp was a silver '07 with 89k that went for $29.5k with no maintenance records and an accident on the CarFax. Winter wheels/tires included at the asking price.
Located in Elkton, MD...equidistant from Baltimore, MD and Philly. Clear MD title in hand. Thanks for looking!
