UPDATED May 13, 22 - GT3 Seats out - minor issues addressed.

Quick facts
2004 911 40th Anniversary Edition #445
~53000 miles
Clean carfax and title
4th owners including me per CARFAX, but was told I was the 3rd when I purchased in in 2017.

Pictures here : pics
GT3 SEATS IN PICTURES ARE GONE. Stock seats are reinstalled.

After a clean bill of health from a PPI by Heyer Performance in the Bay Area, I bought this 911 in original condition. I then had them replace the IMS, RMS, AOS, clutch, flywheel and battery then shipped it directly to Fisher Motors in Barrington, IL. They handled the modifications listed below and then it went to A&L Autobody and had the minor body work. All these shops mentioned are highly regarded by their respective local Porsche communities. A&L Autobody also serves a lot of the Windy City BMWCCA folks. I truly thought I would have this car forever which is why I invested so much into it. Fisher replaced a oil pressure sensor then gave the it a completely clean bill of heath.

Factory options :
Navigation
Comfort power heated seats with memory
Rear wiper - currently removed, but comes with the parts.
Included:
3 pc luggage set Suitcases, Key Pouch(!) and a few other bits - included, plus a sunshade that the PO said came with it.
911 40th Anniversary Edition Need for Speed Game By EA Sports - super rare
Both keys
All books, manuals, all navigation discs and window sticker.
OEM parts that have been removed are included as well.

40th Anniversary Edition 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera. Porsche only produced 1,963 40th edition 996 coupes worldwide to commemorate the debut of the 911 back in 1963.
All of these special edition 996s were finished in GT Silver and came equipped with the X51 Carrera Power kit.output to 345hp/273lb-ft, 996 turbo front bumper, GT3 side skirts, upgraded aluminum intake manifold, performance cylinder heads and cams, performance tuned ECU, limited slip differential and sport chassis with upgraded springs, shocks and sway bars. Luxury features added by the 40th Anniversary package include bi-Xenon head lamps, polished 18" Carrera Wheels, heated leather seats, GT Silver painted center console and aluminum-look dash trim strip and instrument dial rings. Interior features included a full leather interior, Technic Package, Bose premium audio, 6-disc CD changer, power seat adjusters, leather sport steering wheel, Porsche floor mats and a rear wiper. Porsche stability management, factory short shifter and a brutal factory Sport Exhaust were also ordered to compliment the 40th Anniversary performance upgrades. Auto climate control, on-board computer, power rear spoiler and enthusiast-required 6-speed manual transmission are standard.

Service -
12/6/13 33k Dealer service for navigation/fuel system/wiperblades
5/28/15 40k 30k service including brake flush
3/17 48k - IMS/RMS/AOS/clutch/flywheel/battery and oil change.
4/17 Suspension upgrades (listed below), Exhaust, wiper delete and wheel refinishing (Porsche Seal Grey)
3/18 50k All new brakes front and rear - pads, springs, sensors and hardware.
I might have some service records before this, but not many. I had a PPI done when I bought it last March in Palo Alto, CA and it passed with flying colors. Will find that and more and post here.
3/24/18 - oil change, oil pressure sending unit replaced, front and rear hood shocks, brake fluid flush and a PPI inspection.
Oil changed annually in 2019, 2020 and then twice in 2021.

Modifications :
5/17 48k
996 GT3 control arms (wider front track to help with understeer)
996 GT3 sway bars
Tarrett drop links
Bilstein PSS10 coilovers - Every 996 needs these! Much improved ride and handling
Fister 996 ceramic coated mufflers
Refinished MY02 Factory wheels in Porsche Seal Grey
996 Turbo front lip spoiler
Rear wiper deleted with bumper plugs paint matched plug.
5MM spacers all around with black wheel lugs

Tires - new Continental's in April of 22. They have 5 miles on them as of 5/2/22

Paintwork/Bodywork
Previous accidentally bumped into the car port on the right front side, panicked a bit and quickly reversed into the opposite side/corner. This damaged both bumpers and the wheel well liner. There were also some scratches to the passenger door where it meets the rear quarter. I had all this repaired once it arrived back here and do have pictures of the damages prior to being repaired.

Front bumper replaced last fall. Ran over a speed bump which pulled the lip and cracked the tab that holds the front lip up.  All the paint work was done by A&L Autobody in Palatine, IL, which does a done of work for BMWCCA and PCA members. Check them out of Google.

A few stone chips on the hood and a clear coat scratch just in front of the passenger side rear wheel well.

It does have two chips in the windshield, which I have never gotten around to repairing.

Headlights need to be polished as they are starting to oxidize

This is my 2nd 40th AE and I absolutely love these cars. I regretting selling my first and will most likely regret selling this one. I did all the mods without any concern about resale value because I really thought I would have this one a long time. I built if for me and around my tastes. A car that was nice, but not exactly pristine like my first one.

Will come with all the OEM parts minus the oem front air dam (replaced with the Turbo one)– but I do have the seats, suspension bits and the rear wiper.

So why I am selling - despite it not being a garage queen, I primarily drove it to work on sunny days and then weekend drives with my wife and daughter. I put less than 2000 miles on it in 2017. Two major changes for 2018. I moved our office 6 miles away from my home and we had twin boys to our world. This car would barely see 500 miles this year if I kept it.

Back to the car - coilovers are simply one of the best upgrades you can do to a 996. Transforms the ride and certainly improves the handling. The GT3 control arms were added to try to get rid of some of the understeer that comes standard with most 911's. Rick, the owner of Fisher Motors, did an amazing job on setting the car up for me great for back roads or track, but also be very compliant and controlled over rough surfaces. Turn in is excellent and it rotates beautifully.

I have done one track event (prior to changing the brakes/tires) in 2018. Two 20 minute sessions. I race a Spec Miata so not much desire for track days.

Man what a beauty. Needs the 996 seats but otherwise perfect. You cannot go wrong with your suspension mods! Keep it!

Thanks guys! The stock 996 optional comfort seats are included in the sale and if the buyer only wants those, I can reinstall them prior to sale and provide a discount for doing so. If it had the standard sport seats, I would have left those in. That said the 997 GT3 seats are far and away my favorite modification. They feel great, keep in you place and helps my 6'2" frame get lower in the cabin.

good point on the seats! IMO the natural gray comfort seats just suit the car so perfectly. Will be interesting to see what your buyer wants. It’ll sell!

while I don't enjoy seeing this car up for sale - I can completely understand the rationale ( kids & work )

Alex sold me his first 40th nearly 8 years ago, it was perfect,...just a perfect car ( too nice to keep, were his words )
I'm certain he had a Turbo for a bit and then went back to to this 40th
He's an instantly likable guy with a lot of knowledge and can really drive !!

I'll second the work for Rick Fisher and how he sets up cars, I too have coilovers and upgraded sways and
mine is exceptionally well mannered, I would recommend Fisher to anyone

to potential purchasers, I'd leave the car the way it is - this is how a C2 car should be

Thanks for the kind words Scott! Yep, #651 was my first 911, but it did not have a mark on it and only had 24k miles on it. I remember I was washing it and I heard a tap from the zipper of my hoodie hitting the car and I panicked. Sold it and eventually picked up a higher mileage 996 Turbo. The power was intoxicating, but too much for the street unless you are ok with being a felon constantly. Also did not like the muted exhaust note and steering. Finally was not a fan of the AWD system as it would go wonky at the limits. So it was back to C2 shopping, which included 997's and even a base 991 at the time. In the end I realized the 996 was what I wanted, picked up #445 and went to town on all the modifications. I will be gutted when it leaves me.

In regards to the Turbo, yes, I recall you saying ' things happen too fast, the next thing you know you're well over 100 mph '

and you applied the terms; ' tossable and playfulness ' in regards to the 40th's power and weight

These truly are special cars - I will never part with mine

Stock seats are out and minor issues previously listed have been taken care of.

Will market with suspension upgrades for a few weeks before returning to stock. Again all original suspension components can be reinstalled as part of the sale. Just need two days to complete.
