From what I can tell this muffler will fit Porsche air cooled engines and models from 1965 through 1989, but some modifications might be needed to the valence.
I acquired an inventory of spares from a friend who raced 996 & 997 GT3 Cup cars from 2006 - 2009. He also raced a highly modified Porsche 914 and had a 1996 911 Turbo Carrera, for his daily driver… and this muffler was in that group of parts and could have been for one of these cars, especially the 914 which was highly modified… or could have been for some other project that he was working on.
I also have some of the spares left from that 997 GT3 Cup team that I will be posting. Thanks
