Description:

This 1999 Porsche 911 996.1 Carrera coupe is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black full leather, and it is powered by a 3.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed Tiptronic automatic transaxle.

Responsibly owned, driven, and maintained to a high standard.  No known issues.

The 3.4-liter M96 flat-six engine was factory rated at 296 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.  The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 175+ mph speedometer, a central tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 69k miles, approximately 8k of which were added under current ownership over the past 4.5 years.

Equipment includes 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels, integrated fog lights, a Porsche CDR-210 stereo, traction control, automatic climate control, cruise control, power sunroof, and dual exhaust outlets with polished finishers. Stopping power is from four-piston Porsche-branded calipers fitted over Porsche rotors at all four corners.  The cabin features power-adjustable seats upholstered in black supple leather along with matching carpets and black floor mats. This 996.1 has a desirable early build date of February 1998, as well as desirable cable throttle, cable hood, and cable rear decklid controls.

The car has spent its life Washington State since new.

All service work has been with Porsche OEM parts by Porsche dealers or independent Porsche specialist shops.  Recent service has included preventative maintenance items including LN Solution IMS bearing upgrade, rear main seal, coolant tank, water pump, and more.

Vehicle has no known modifications except for LN Solution IMS bearing upgrade and Rennline billet front license plate mount.

This coupe is offered with service records, original owner’s manuals, original tool set, original front license plate mount, three keys, Porsche Tequipment trickle charger, Porsche windshield sunshade, current CARFAX report, and a clean and clear Washington State title.

Happy to answer any questions.  Located in secured parking in Seattle’s SODO area for viewing.  I do not need help selling this vehicle.

Hi 14400replace - I am unfortunately not a corvette expert. However, this 996.1 is an excellent example and will not disappoint. Please contact me at mmrsmm@yahoo.com or text at 206 659 three nine zero five if you have any questions, or to view the car. Best Regards from mmrsmm in Seattle, and take care.

You should see what other 996 examples (even Tiptronic) are listed at. You *might* be able to get a roller without an engine for that book value currently.

Also, OP, that's BaT ad copy. Was this on BaT previously?

Default 996

I did see a roller on the forum for 6k although i am not interested in a roller. I would not pay low retail for a roller but that is just me.

Hi aaronjb_ME - Hello and thanks for the question. No, this car was never listed on Bring a Trailer (BaT). But I definitely did follow their format in the text of this for sale ad. I figure that the BaT folks know what format is best to inform buyers (and because I'm definitely no kind of marketing genius and there is no way that I could come up with a better format LOL). Best Regards, mmrsmm

OP here again -- I was at bit more active on Rennlist a few years back, under prior username XZG. https://rennlist.com/forums/members/227636-xzg.html. (PS -- the turn signal mod described in one of the older posts was never implemented on this vehicle). Cheers, mmrsmm

You're way off on pricing. What's posted here is a very fair price for this vehicle and condition.

The 6k roller price was from the forum. I am not way off on anything. My post is a question and not a comment on the man's post.

to answer your question. 996 are less expensive because
1. They had catastrophic issues with the IMS bearing. Which would require $20k in engine rebuilding/replacement
2. They sold a lot of them
3. The look is considered less appealing

Your book price is completely accurate for about 5 years ago. However, problem 1 has been solved. Not having to roll the dice on a dead engine (and decreasing the supply of cheap rollers) has caused a significant uptick in price. Last year $20k was a fair price for a good example with lowish miles. Toss in the pandemics upward pressure on all used cars, the fact this model has reached classic status, and a general increase in buzz from PCA and other sources and this is a well (and probably low)priced example.

some consider the 99 more desirable due to the cable throttle.

As always price is what people are willing to pay right now. Three years ago paying a dealer markup over MSRP on a Corolla would have been insane, but this is where we are.

I suggest you concentrate your research on listings across several sources and see what the asking and what the selling price is. Keeping in mind the car is 20 years old and conditions can vary greatly.

to the OP. Nice car and GLWS

pricing is spot on IMO , considering that the IMS was done and the mileage.

Sounds like I have a lot to learn. I think the car is worth $13,250. An offer of 8k from a dealer would not surprise me.

Doesn't everyone.

Im not sure how things work on the corvette forum but here it is generally considered poor form to reply to someone's ad by

1. Saying you don't know anything about what an item costs
2. Insisting it's worth half what the seller asked

There are actually rules to prevent this very thing. If you're really interested in learning the ins and outs of pricing I suggest you post in the 996 forum. There are lots of helpful, knowledgeable and friendly people there who would love teach you the way of the 996

OP here with a final post -- this car sold today for full asking price. Very much appreciate the information exchange, dialogue, and discourse on Rennlist. Cheers to all. mmrsmm
