Akrapovic Evolution Titanium Race Exhaust (w/ headers & Link Pipes) - 991 GT3
For SaleEngine - Exhaust
Description:
Hello fellow Porsche drivers!
Looking to sell this brand new in box Akrapovic Evolution line exhaust for the 991 GT3 (the 3.8 and 4.0 somehow run the same headers). This is a fully titanium exhaust that emits arguably the best sounding engine note.
Some key features:
-handcrafted headers (low quality headers might crack under stress)
-100 cell high flow cats
-O2 sensor plugs on headers to avoid CEL
-reduces nearly 50 lbs
-increases roughly 27 hp @3950rpm (claimed by Akrapovic)
-increases roughly 37 ft-lbs of torque (claimed by Akrapovic)
I am currently running this set up on my 991.1 GT3. Previously ran an Fi Exhaust which was amazing as well, but the sound quality does not match that of the Akrapovic's. The rear section is more of a resonator than muffler when installed with the link pipes (included; serves as side muffler delete) as opposed to the valved side muffler section, also available from Akrapovic (so much extra weight on both sides...). The exhaust path of this set up is essentially a straight pipe after the high flow cats. When looking into the primary exhaust path of the resonator box section (where the link pipes lead to), the pipe is a straight through L shape pipe that bends into the center exit holes; you can see straight through to the exit with no interruption. There is a small cutout that bleeds into the box and my theory is that the pressure within the resonator box must be positive to exert the maximum volume. In other words, under light throttle or load, the unwanted frequencies bleed into the box, emitting a deep bass sound and only letting some of the raspier frequencies out. Under heavy load or wide open throttle, the full sound spectrum thrusts out of the exhaust system at full volume. It is a very genius design as it also gives the car a constantly different engine note based on driver input.
Many assume that this Evolution set up may not be as loud or satisfying sound as the Slip-On rear section (pipes only, no box), however I believe it is capable of producing the same volume of sound on demand while allowing a broader spectrum of different engine sounds. The bass sound between 2-3k rpm with the Evolution line is intoxicating and the high rpm sounds really live up to the exotic flat-6 "howl" with added bass and resonance from the titanium construction. This is a quality exhaust.
Compared to the Fi and the equally epic Dundon setups I have heard, the Akrapovic has a more sophisticated, elegant and seductive tone. The others tend to be more singular and straightforward with being high pitched or aggressive/raspy. The Akrapovic exhaust achieves those high pitched sounds too with the added bass. The sound of the Akrapovic is also tuned to be the frequencies that travel so it really fills up the street with sound whenever the engine is on.
The reason why I have two exhausts is because I ordered with another participant for a better deal but they backed out. It is very hard to see this set up in brand new condition for less than $10,000. I have no need for two of the same exhaust systems so am willing to take the loss for it. Price is negotiable.
