Description:
I purchased this beauty in March of 2014 with 93,228 miles. Uniquely unbadged from the factory which is a great look.
Prior owner replaced the IMS bearings and performed an engine rebuild to install LN Engineering Nickies Block Sleeving and new clutch at odometer reading 92,000 miles. All work performed by Eurosport Automotive in Arvada, CO, the tech shop for the Denver PCA. Eliminated any of the well-known 1999 996 issues. That's a big deal.
This car now has 98,000 miles, and in addition to an essentially new motor, I have "reset the odometer" on much of the rest with new components. Recently retired and with a new stand-alone garage, I did the items listed below—it was a job well done and a lot of fun. Let’s just say I had plans to keep and drive this for awhile and take it to a track occasionally. That’s where these things really sing.
About a year later, the winter of 2015 forced us to move, and I no longer have a workshop garage so that ended that. I don’t drive it much…my new home is in a community with a 20 mph speed limit(!!) and I only have a two car garage with a 9 foot ceiling at the door opener. So, car projects ended, plans for learning to drive at the track were put aside, and my eager car is looking for some driving which I no longer do.
It still has under 100,000 miles and has always been garaged.
What’s been done. In addition to the IMS bearings and LN Engineering Nikkies and Clutch at 92K miles
- Upgrade suspension with Koni sport shocks (KONI-8241-1274SPORT), shock bearing plates, strut mounts. (Cool project and they’re adjustable!)
- Installed rebuilt Alternator and cable loom. (The cable loom can corrode over time, so that’s done. While I was at it, why not swap out the Alternator? Couldn’t think why I wouldn’t)
- Replaced left and right Radiators and fans, hoses, and added 3rd center radiator (made for the Turbo) for added cooling capacity. Can sit in summer traffic and never overheat. Expensive parts and important upgrade.
- Replaced Shifter box—to short throw GT3 shifter. Really sweet.
- Replaced Shifter cables and brackets. Made sense…didn’t want to do this half way.
- Installed new Motor mounts and hardware (mounts stretch over time since motor hangs from them and oddly makes shifting sloppy. New mounts improves shift line—making it super smooth.)
- Replaced Clutch Slave Cylinder (when the motor’s out of the car…swap anything you can since it’s hard to get at these things otherwise.)
- Replaced Air Oil separator.
- Replaced Oil cooler.
- Replaced IAC valve. These things can get dirty over time. Rather than clean it up, I swapped it out. A 20 minute job.
- Refreshed Strut bumpers and bushings. Easy to do, again, so why not?
- Replaced any galvanized bolt or nut that had any rust on it I found while working on the car
- Replaced Engine compartment insulation. (Makes for cleaner engine compartment. Like new.)
- Swapped wheels to OZ Alleggerita HLT Black wheels (18-10 rear, 18-8 front) O.Z. Alleggerita HLT Black Painted (tirerack.com) (these wheels are beautiful and reduce unsprung weight.)
- Micheline Pilot Super Sport 265/35ZR18 rear, 225/40ZR18 front)
- Added a Sump extension: MantisSport Sump extension. (Increases oil capacity without lowering road clearance.)
- Recharged AC on 3/29/2021.
- South Shore Autoworks gave it a clean bill of health with the note: “vehicle tracks straight, rides and handles as designed. This 911 is a clean and well running vehicle."
Includes Porsche 996: essential companion and some spare parts.
Will consider reasonable offers.
