Description:
Here is for sale a unique prototype of the Porsche 914-6 Coupe. Price on request.
Some might have seen that exact Porsche displayed at the 50 years of the 914 celebration last year at the Porsche Museum.
This car was Designed by Jacques Cooper, built by Heuliez, introduced at the 1970 Salon de Paris (Paris auto show). It was painted metallic beige for the top and pale beige for the bottom. The same car was repainted for the Geneva auto show in Orange metallic for its top part.
Today you can still see its original beige color underneath some panels on the trunk area, see pictures below.
The car bears Porsche serial number 1300005, showing that this is a pre-series car.
The idea was to create a GT coupe version of the 914 with the 911 Flat 6 engine. A more refined, luxury version of the 914. The car was well received by the press and people were ready to place orders for it. Heuliez started discussions with Porsche to start production. However, they were working with Karmann and would'nt want any conflict with their coach builder. Project got cancelled as Heuliez would'nt risk to go alone on that project.
For those not familiar, Carrosserie Heuliez was one of the most important French coach builders. Founded in the 20s to build bodyworks on Citroens, it finally manufactured mainly buses and trains body works after WWII. On the international scene, for me, the highlights of Heuliez are the build of most of Citroen French presidential cars, the manufacture of the Peugeot 205T16 and Citroen BX T16 (Group B homologation cars), and the body work of the fastest car at Le Mans, in 1988 with the WM Peugeot with 405km/h (252mph) on Les Hunaudières (Mulsane straight). Jacques Cooper, the designer of the car is also the designer of the French TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse), world fastest's rail train in the world, that is still in service in France (574.8km/h, 357mph).
After that, the car spent over 40 years in the collection of manufacturer Heuliez, and then was sold in 2012, when Heuliez went bankrupt, to its actual owner in France. It was refurbished by Heuliez before the sale.
This car is a unique fully functional prototype, wearing its Porsche and Heuliez chassis number HZ1970-1. It's full metal and tempered glass.
The car was refurbished by Heuliez on the bodywork before sale but the engine was not working. A full engine rebuilt was performed in 2013 to make it run again. It is now
The car drove 14500km since new, is in mint condition and registered in France as a Porsche Murene.
The car drives perfectly.
It's the fifth 914-6 produced by Porsche, the car comes with the purchase order and custom documents from Brissoneau & Lotz (which should have first done the project), then a purchase order from Heuliez that continued the project from B&L. Also the official document from Maitre Hervé Poulain that the car was sold from Heuliez to private collector in 2012. Also I have the invoices of the work done on the engine.
The car comes with a painting from Jacques Cooper and the wood 1:8 model build by the designer (he gave it to me after the car was purchased) that was used at B&L to produce the car. See pictures.
I have also a big amount of press and book documents from different eras that showed the car (from French and German books and magazines). They have been scanned and can be sent.
The car comes also with the original invitation to the Paris auto show, to see the car.
A unique chance to buy a Porsche Museum car. It will be a winner in Porsche parades and concours d'élégance.
You can see here the car on movement on the Volkswagen channel at Ludwigsburg Concours d'élégance.
And here, at the Porsche Channel at 3:00min you can see the car at the Porsche Heritage workshop (at Porsche Museum, Stuttgart Zuffenhausen) being touched up just before its display for the 914 exhibition
Till now, they knew they could get the car for exhibitions. And the subject has been discussed. But this year might not be the best for them with covid and they already pulled back from so many championship (IMSA), that it might not be their priority.
