Description:
Reluctantly offered for sale is my 2004 Boxster S 50 Jahre 550 Spyder in GT Silver over Cocoa brown extended leather . #370 of 500 imported to the US market, 1953 total worldwide production. Currently showing 55,816 miles which will increase with its weekly exercise. I'm the third enthusiast owner - the second having purchased the car from the widow of the first, who'd been a close friend.
Owner number one ordered the car with the following options, listed on the (included) window sticker:
- Cruise Control.
- Bose High End Sound Package.
- CD Shelf Center Console.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- In March of 2011 at 37,697 miles, the IMS bearing failed, suddenly. The car was towed to Porsche of Towson, MD where the diagnosis was made, and the dealership replaced the engine under good-will warranty. He opted to have the clutch replaced while the engine was out.
- The total was $19,010.71, of which owner number two paid $1319.57
- The chassis mileage is 55,816 on 10/14/2020 - The engine and clutch have covered about 18,100 miles.
As he neared retirement and simplifying/downsizing his automotive footprint he mentioned he was contemplating selling to his community of local racer types, and in July of 2016 myself and my wife drove it, struck a deal and our open top/nice day car was upgraded from an NA Miata to something a lot nicer. It has had zero issues during my four-plus years of ownership. I did a baseline fluid service immediately after I got it home, and did another last summer with Motul 8100 ester-based synthetic and a factory filter. At the same time I serviced the brakes with Brembo OEM rotors and new caliper hardware and EBC red pads, and a fluid flush with Motul RBF600. At the same time I installed a new Interstate battery, and replaced the heater core. in 2018 I found a factory hard top with defroster in excellent condition in PA and had a nice full day round trip drive to pick it up. It's Seal Grey which is the same color as the wheel centers - initially I'd thought I'd paint it GT silver, but it really looks "right" on the car, so I've left it. it's only been on the car the winter of 2018, and it's been stored, covered, on the included wheeled top rack. The car has been stored either in my garage, or under the included factory Porsche cover. The paint is all original but for the front bumper cover having been repainted from a parking scrape inflicted by owner number two's neighbor. I believe one headlamp lens was replaced at the same time. The leather is in excellent condition and has been kept clean and regularly treated with Z1 German leather cream. The soft top is in very good condition, and operates perfectly. The rear glass defroster works properly, as does the one on the hard top. The Continental Extreme Contact DW tires have about 8/32" front / 7/32" rear tread depth, The car is located in Maryland near NW DC and I'm pleased to assist with showing, demonstration, coordinating with your choice of shop to have a pre-purchase inspection done, and if you're in Maryland, I will obtain a state inspection for the buyer. The pictures include some taken immediately prior to when I bought the car, but it looks the same or better 5800 miles later. I'm happy to provide images of anything you'd like to see in more detail. Car will include:
- 2 keyless entry fobs.
- Glovebox folio with owner's manual, etc.
- Window sticker.
- Thick binder of service records.
- Engine warranty paperwork including Porsche engine crate documentation.
- Seal grey hardtop with rolling, padded storage rack.
- Factory Porsche outdoor/waterproof/soft lined cover - I think I have the bag but I generally loosely roll it and store it in the frunk
- Extra Motul 8100 oil from last change.
- Original US market taillights in near unused condition.
- An uninstalled and unneeded oil/air separator.
- A spare serpentine belt.
- A CG Lok seatbelt tensioner - nice if you do any autocross or HPDE.
- An uninstalled rear lower suspension stiffener bar.

So you've only added 5,800 miles in the last four years? You barely drove it! How's the underside of the car look...any rust? I wish I was a little closer, or I'd make a run down an take a look. I always loved these - hands-down it's the best looking, best performing 986.
