Description:

I very recently purchased this aftermarket GT2 style front bumper off Rennlist. The seller said it fits a "996 turbo". This was confusing as it obviously has the fried egg headlight cutouts of an early 996, which is what I have. Since the headlight shape was right and there is only one body style that had this headlight (that I know of), I went ahead and purchased it. It is a very nice looking bumper, very nice fiberglass and surface, but it does not fit easily on my car. Therefore I am selling it as a project bumper, as I assume it will require some effort and bodywork to make it fit. It is currently Basalt Black.

$350 + shipping I can deliver it in Orange County and beyond

What is the difficulty on installing it on a 99 carrera? Was it too wide? Gaps too big? I'm interested as my GT3 duraflex bumper the car came with is pretty much shot.

It seems too wide at the ends. If I got one side basically in the right location (the flange that goes into the side marker recess), it would be out too far on the other side.
The flange below the lights seemed to be the right distance apart and could be lined up pretty well. The large undertray surface seemed to be in the right place in relation to where the under bumper mounts are.

*** This is pretty typical of fiberglass parts - they need "massaging" for proper fit. This is not a big deal for those with "fiberglass chops"/experience, but it is daunting for those with only home hobbyist type skills... buyer beware!

I can understand some massaging to fit before paint, but if it's that far off on Carrera to Carrera, why was it painted in the first place? Massaging wasnt done...apparently a premature happy ending

I have a reference for a guy who does superb carbon and fiber glass work. He showed me a similar example. He had to cut slots and bend to match, then re-glassed it.
