Description:
SALE PENDING 8/31/2020
Advance offering before going to BaT: I am pleased to share a very nice 87 5-speed for sale that I previously owned and sold to a local friend and Porsche enthusiast who is now rotating cars in his collection. This is a well loved and well cared for example that has been maintained to a high standard during its life. I don't have to tell you how hard it is to find 5-speed S4s in nice shape and with all the maintenance up to date. Everything on the car works correctly with the exception of the cruise control.
Starting with the exterior, the paint on the car is beautiful and is original except that I had the front passenger fender and bumper cover painted because both had imperfections that were not in keeping with the rest of the car. The color match and finish is perfect and cannot be detected without the aid of a paint thickness meter. I also had the paint touched up professionally around the driver side door lock, which also showed some imperfections. There are some stone chips and a couple of small scuffs on the rear bumper cover that don't show up in the photos and are only visible up close. There are no signs or reports of any accident damage, repairs or filler on the car.
Inside the car, the black leather seats are in great shape, with no discernible wear, sun damage or drying. The leather remains soft and supple with its original finish. The pod is perfect, and the dash has a couple of small cracks in the usual places at the vent openings and the corner of the glove box. The interior lighting all works properly, and a very nice analog clock was installed in place of the dated LCD clock. The stereo system includes German made MB Quart speakers that were added to the door cards without compromising the original sized speakers. The head unit is a modern, period correct Continental equipped with BT.
Mechanically, the car has had all of the expensive maintenance that a 100k mile S4 should have done: Intake refresh, with new knock sensors, spark plug wires, MAF, fuel lines, steering gear, shocks, motor mounts, AC (blows low 30s F on a hot day), hoses, and on and on. The car idles perfectly at 675 rpms and starts as it should hot and cold. There are no fluid leaks, weeps or drips. I did the timing belt 2 years ago and installed a new Laso pump, Gates belt, rebuilt the tensioner/filled with STP, new bushings and rollers, and replaced the coolant with G-05. The clutch seems to have been replaced, but I don't have the records. The car shifts great and the clutch feel is excellent. A 928 MS short shifter is installed and comes with the original shifter. The car wears genuine Porsche Cup 2 wheels with 2 year old Yokohamas on the back, 7 year old up front. Underneath, the car is clean, factory front belly pan is in place with both of its original ducts.
The car was previously listed on BaT in 2018 (when I last sold it): https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...che-928-s4-30/

After receiving $500 depots, insurance policy purchased, airline tickets booked, and arranging all the details you text me saying someone offered full price.
You don't do this for fun.
Your bizarre and dishonest behavior (stalking/bullying on RL and by text and dishonest narratives) are precisely why I am not dealing with you, and I would advise all others to avoid you as well.
I did not sell you a car and would not sell you anything of any value. I learned a while ago that nothing good can come out of dealing with certain kinds of people.
I have all the communications to show how you screwed me up. You are the one who took the deposit, allowed me to book airline tickets, buy car insurance and temporary tags then send me a text message the evening before my flight saying " sorry, got multiple full price offers, I will be returning you deposit". Ask anyone in this community " Why would a buyer put a deposit on a car ?" . This I think would be a good fit for a title of thread where I can share my experience!!

The seller is under no legal obligtion to sell you the car. It's a courtesy that some sellers will honor and some won't. Be glad you got your deposit back. People suck and we have to live in a world of sucky people. However, you have an obligation to mitigate your own damages. You could have matched that full price. Your insurance policy that you purchased can be cancelled as you never took possession of the vechicle. No money lost there. You may have been able to cancel or change the destination of the tickets. Mitigate, mitigate, mitigate.
You're also a new user, not even a member. You have no cred here yet so your accusations have to come with an air tight case.
Good luck and I think that red car is nicer anyways. Go buy that one.

Lets get the facts straight because you are not entitled to your own ... here they are without emotion:
- I listed an 88 928 S4 5-speed on Craigslist for $13,500
- You expressed interest in the car but were unwilling to make a significant non-refundable deposit and enter into an agreement to buy the car without first seeing it (which is all fine of course); we had no agreement to sell the car verbally or in writing
- I also made it clear that I would not take the car off the market if you were not willing to commit to the purchase
- I had multiple full price offers to buy the car within 24 hours of our initial conversation at which time I informed you and promptly returned your entire fully refundable deposit
As a side note, Ive had these experiences in the past and I treat everyone the same. In the past Ive had people who want me to hold a car but will not commit, and I always attempt to make it clear that if you are unwilling to commit, the car remains on the market.
Finally, your continued harassment first by text message and now by making these remarks on RL are entirely inappropriate. Please move on.
