Description:

This is a fresh race motor built by Jon Andruk. It's a 2.5l 16v from an '87 944S, built for an SCCA FP project I've had to abandon. Well over $20k in this motor, and includes a custom Hayward throttle body setup and a Stahl header modified by Jon Milledge with a Burns merge collector, and an A.R.E. dry sump oil pan (NOTE: oil filter console is removed and motor is set up for -12 AN oil pump input, DRY SUMP ONLY). Motor was never installed or started, has been bagged for the last couple of years. 12:1 compression, balance shafts deleted (oil ports either welded or epoxied depending on the side), Custom 4340 Moldex lightweight crankshaft (42#), Mahle Motorsport pistons w/Crower rods. Custom cams, ported head, solid lifters and Ti retainers w/Ferrea oversized valves. Build sheet, valve/cam specs, etc, available upon request. Buyer pays freight, or pickup in Colorado Springs.

About how much horsepower and torque is this setup to make? Any way this could go into a road car? Beautiful motor GLWS!

It's never been started, much less run on a dyno, so I don't have a number for this engine. I've been told that a full-tilt 16v in GT roadracing trim can make ~360, but likely with a more aggressive cam than this one. This was built for autocross application, so the cam was designed with a broader powerband in mind. I can put folks in contact with Jon Andruk if they've got more questions about the cam profile, etc—but I'll attach some of the docs here.

Edit: road car, I suppose you could, since the cams aren't totally crazy, but given that it's a dry sump-only engine and the balance shafts are gone, I wouldn't personally try that with it.

It looks amazing. The only other motor I’ve seen that looks similar was that crazy one built by Michael Mounts. I think it might have been 3.2 liters.

I have no experience with a power plant like this in a transaxle car but I can only imagine it is going to be fun. Plus ITB’s are way cooler cooler than turbos

I figured it might be a little extreme for road car use. Then again the world needs more 944 R’s!
