I won't bore you with my sad story of someone buying my perfect 991 out from under me while I waited for a PPI appointment, but I definitely deserve your sympathy. :-) I'd like a blue one equipped with sport chrono and the exhaust package. I'm closely monitoring AutoTrader, CarGurus, Porsche Finder (CPO), and Carmax, but not finding another perfect car. My question is: Is the available 991 inventory about normal now, or is it unusually low? If it's low, I'll wait longer. If not, maybe I'll compromise.
It’s always tough to find a car if you are specific about colors & options. I’m more of an option guy even if I’m open to a lot colors sometimes it’s still a hard find
struggling here as well...looking for a targa 4s/gts manual...yes, it's a bit of a unicorn, but there are literally none listed on autotrader, cars.com, or car gurus nationwide...
Supposedly the pandemic has created a pent up desire for cars. Dealers are having a hard time keeping new and used inventory on their lots. That's forced them to pay way higher prices at auctions. Eventually the demand will be met and things will settle down. But right now it's wild, so if you find your dream car, you better be willing to move quickly.
Dealer has told me that new cars got backed up and didn't come as expected causing less trade in s all due to covid. So with fewer cars they can ask more, supply and demand.

Sorry! but you snooze you lose ... and PPI is overrated
I appreciate your sympathy. :-) I see lots of 991's languishing for weeks or months online with no buyer, so snoozing is not necessarily a losing strategy. Maybe their PPI's are coming back with problems?

you are correct, many are sitting there but as soon as you hone in on one car, it is likely that it is desirable and people seem to scoop them up pretty quickly or putting deposit on it....I have had this happen multiple times and have learned the lesson, the hard way!
so my recommendation to you will be to put a deposit once you identify the car you want so that no one can swoop it from under you....

Yep. Agree. I missed out on 3-4 cars by not contacting seller quickly enough or getting information and not making an offer. Recently saw one I liked and jumped on it. Tried to negotiate but ended up paying full asking price (which was still a fair price). I was first to contact him so he offered me right of first refusal at full price (he had received at least two offers).
