Your car is a launch vehicle (option code 762), which means it was one of the first Caymans built. Porsche did 2 Cayman launch vehicles in 06. One was silver and the other was black. If you're unfamiliar with launch vehicles, Porsche builds a batch of cars with the same options and color when they introduce a new model. These cars are sent to the dealers with the instructions to NOT sell them right away. The idea is to have a new model on the showroom floor until production catches up and the sales people will always have cars to display.

That is really fascinating! I do have some of the original documentation and Porsche certificates from the first owner but did not realize the significance of that option code
Cant recall all the details, but...large % 2006 caymans assembled in Finland under contract.
German engineering, German parts, Finnish assembly.
Valmet industry...
Cool Porsche trivia.

I mentioned yours is one of the first off the assembly line. That's because Porsche builds the launch vehicles before any other cars. That's so they can concentrate on build quality since the color and options are all the same. You can run you VIN thru vinanalytics.com for all the options on your CS.
I buy & sell Boxsters and Caymans as a hobby and have sold both a silver and black Cayman S launch vehicle. I think they built the silvers first as the serial # was lower.
