  • Condition Used
  • VIN WP0AB2A84CS793147
  • Engine 6 cyl
  • Drive Type 2WD
  • Transmission Automatic
  • Vehicle Type Coupe
  • Exterior Color Blue
Description:

Aqua metallic/black. 19,600 miles, excellent condition. The ultimate, well-maintained, very fast, track-prepped PDK Cayman. Being sold to make room for new GT3. Always garaged, cosmetically and mechanically stunning. Xpel on hood, fenders, mirrors.

Over $25,000 in track mods, including the following: Safety mods - roll bar, 6 point harnesses, fire extinguisher, Recaro race seats (OEM sport seats also included). Suspension mods - GT3 lower control arms, adjustable toe links, solid engine and transmission mounts. Drive train mods - Cargraphic long tube race headers (stock headers also included, can be installed if needed to pass smog testing), Soul Performance exhaust (which is awesome!), IPD plenum, GT3 throttle body, FVD Brombacher chip, transmission cooler. Brake mods - Girodiscs, Pagid yellows, GT3 master cylinder and ducts, braided stainless steel brake lines.

When purchased 3 years ago at 8,500 miles, the car had never been tracked. I had a NEW LONG BLOCK MOTOR from Porsche installed July, 2018 at 16,060 miles. (See photo of motor pre-install, it's the last pic) Only a handful of track events on the new motor. It runs like a banshee, and still under factory engine warranty until July, 2020.

This is an incredible, and very fast, Cayman R track beast. You will not find a faster, cleaner, more enjoyable Cayman R anywhere. Second set of excellent condition 18" O.Z. Ultraleggera track wheels with Hoosier R7's included in price (and shown on the car in the next-to-last pic).

Beautiful car, the twin to my ABM Spyder! Good luck with the sale, that's a hefty price but a very rare color.

GLWS! I am drooling over this car, ABM is my favorite color by far. Looked for over a year for one before getting my Cayman R, couldn't find one anywhere.

Regards,
John Gaydos

Yes, you have! The same day you let me drive your sweet GT3 at Sebring. Thanks, Beau!

I first tracked the car when I bought it with just under 9,000 miles. Did several track events over a couple of years after that, mainly at Sebring. Then a rattling noise developed in the motor at 16,000 miles. Sounded like a rod or other internal broken part that would likely require an expensive rebuild, at best. Rather than spend a bunch of money on a diagnostic tear down, I bit the bullet and bought a long block motor from Porsche. (Porsche factory motors are not cheap. It cost me over $20,000 for the motor and install. And that's in addition to the $25,000 in mods listed in the post. There's a pic of the new motor on the shop floor before install, it's the last pic in the post).

The new motor required a 1,500 mile break-in -period, so I first tracked it again after it hit 17,500 miles. Now it's got 1,860 more miles, at 19,360. Of those1,860 miles, less than 1,000 are track miles.

While installing the new motor, I went ahead and added Cargraphic long-tube race headers and a transmission cooler for the PDK. I also recently added a Soul Performance valved sport exhaust, which sounds amazing. The motor, with these mods, runs ridiculously well, and sounds even better!

Thanks, John. This is the same car you saw at Sebring, and the one I ran a 2:24.3 on Hoosier R7's in.

BTW, the Soul Performance exhaust sounds unbelievable. When you floor it, it screams like a wild animal. But cruising I-95 at 2,200 RPM it just purrs quietly. Awesome.

I'll need to talk to you about something similar for the 991.1 GT3 I just bought. Maybe start with a center muffler bypass?

LSD?
Beautiful car. If I hadn't just purchased a 2018 GT3, I'd be writing a check!
Good luck!

Yes, it's got an LSD.

I just bought a GT3 as well. Still gonna miss this car, though. It's amazing on track.

Does the check engine light come on from the headers or did you flash it or use high flow cats?

No check engine lights. The shop that did the new motor install did the race headers at the same time. Not sure of the specifics as to how they handled it, but all went smoothly and there have never been any CEL's. We later added the Soul Performance valved sport exhaust, and had no CEL's then either. The combination of the long-tube race headers plus Soul Performance exhaust is fantastic. At speed on the highway, with valves closed, it purrs quietly with zero drone. At the track, with valves open, under hard acceleration it sounds glorious.
