Description:

Up for sale is a 1978 911 SC coupe in Minerva blue with black interior. I have ordered the new COA, but it's not arrived quite yet. I have a HUGE file of records with the car which appear to go back to new, including the original bill of sale. I also have a handwritten log book detailing maintenance, costs and other notes from the second long term owner. I believe this to be a three-owner car with the second owner having it for 20 years or more.

This is a nice clean straight car with one older respray in the original color. Both myself and my shop have been through every inch of this car and there are no signs of any rust, no signs of any accident repair. The car runs and drives exactly as you would expect a very nice mechanically sorted excellent 1978 SC coupe would.

The mileage is 108,760 and its well documented via the huge file of paperwork which came with the car.

Headstuds done with the top end at 75k miles in 2002. Timing chain tensioner guards were installed at that time too.

The motor had a documented rebuild with steel head studs from a very reputable shop.

When we received the car, we did a full service on the car including fluids change, valve adjustment, and leak down / compression tests. Numbers are excellent and the motor runs beautifully.

AC has been serviced and updated through the years with documentation and you can see in the pics some of the updated components. It blows cool but not ice cold, about what I would expect from an air cooled 911 system that's not state of the art.

All the other major systems have been gone through. Suspension is nice and tight with stock t bars. I have photos with wheels off. Wheels are real Fuch's 16 by 7 up front and Euromeister 16 by 8's in the rear with pretty recent rubber in excellent condition.

Interior is very very nice with original black vinyl seats, NO cracks in the dash. Everything works as it should, all interior and exterior lights, door switches, gauges, and controls work as they came from the factory.

The car is very very stock, the changes from original are the wheels, H4 headlights, fiberglass decklid with wing (Weissach wing) with rubber. As mentioned some of the AC components have been upgraded to more modern more efficient units.

One note ... the drivers side heater tube was not yet reinstalled when I snapped these photos. Heat works exactly as designed and the drivers side tube has been reinstalled.

Many many little details have all been done. All the window rubber is fresh, all of the door seals, most of the rubber parts throughout the car have been replaced.

The Bad:

This car is a 10-footer.... The older respray is the weak point of the car. There is orange peel in some areas and the paint is lifting a bit in a couple of areas. Mechanically this car is excellent. Were I to keep this car I would drive it just like it is without any guilt at all. Over time I would then have a proper respray done which would make this car a top-level SC coupe in a rare and beautiful color.

I would consider offers.

Please PM me with questions. I will be away 6/28 to 7/1 but of course have access to my PM's just may be a little slow getting back to you.

I have sold many cars on BAT... I have no issue with them I just figured I'd offer the car here first.

I have been active member here for 15 years with thousands of posts, please don't send me crazy low offers, its much appreciated if we don't waste each other's time.

Full Disclosure:

As many people know I worked for Porsche for 10 years (2008 to 2018) and now I am a very small-time dealer myself. This car is titled in my dealership name, clean clear title. I have no issue making this one of my personal cars if it does not sell at a reasonable price.

Conclusion:

This is a very very nice SC coupe in a great color which is mechanically excellent and runs/drives fantastic. You can drive it like it is or take it to another level.
