Porsche 944 Turbo, Speed Force Stainless Downpipe, New, Polished
For SaleEngine - Exhaust
Description:
I have a brand new 3 inch Down Pipe by Speed Force Racing for the 944 Turbo, 944S2 Turbo and 968 Turbo. It has a 3 inch outside diameter stainless steel pipe. It can bolt up to a stock exhaust or a 3 inch exhaust from Fab Speed, Lindsey Racing and the 2.5 inch 944 Turbo exhaust from Billy Boat. The stock down pipe is 1 15/16ths of an inch inside diameter on a regular 944 Turbo and slightly larger on the Turbo S. So this can handle the largest turbos that can be bolted to a 944 Turbo. It will definitely help relieve back pressure, which is a huge enemy to the engine and anything else in the engine bay because this evacuates heat much better than the stock down pipe. Personally, I think everyone that owns a 944 Turbo should get at least the downpipe coated by Swaintech, if not the cross-over pipe and headers, along with a thermal blanket over the turbo. The turbo is an inch and a half under the stock intake manifold and radiates all of that heat into the manifold causing higher intake temps. The amount of heat that emanates off of these parts (including the turbocharger) is the reason why wires become brittle, the outer insulation becomes as hard as a rock and can snap like a twig. The flanges are nice and thick, so is the steel piping. It is heavier than the Lindsey "True" 3 inch downpipe. The bottom flange does not have 3 semi permanent studs. It has 3 Hex. bolts that can be tightened and loosened to help make installation easier. I know we have all wrestled with the down pipe and crossover pipe to get the bolt holes to all line up. A completely stock 951 with this down pipe and a 3 inch exhaust will conservatively increase power and torque by 25-30 HP. The down pipe, 3 inch exhaust, Boost enhancer and a few wastegate shims were the first mods I did to my first 951 and it felt like a different car. Turbo lag went down, spooled much faster and held boost higher into the RPMs. Throw in some chips and you can get to around 280-295 HP with a K26/6. If you have a K26/6 rebuilt and a BATMO compressor wheel used, you can gain up to 100 HP, to make it 320 HP, even with the stock air flow meter. Chips usually need a 3 BAR fuel pressure regulator. The retail price is $300 plus shipping. My price is $275 with free shipping in the US. I can't give as big a discount as the last one I sold because this ships from Speed Force straight to you. It is already made. Contact me for international shipping. Thanks! Kevin Anderson 732 814 6623
The second picture is what it looks like when it's professionally polished. If you use heat wrap, you can only go one layer because it will be too wide and hit the block if you wrap it nice and thick. I know from personal experience. I wrapped it really good with like 6 steel zip ties and I had to unravel the whole thing because it was rubbing against the block. Plus I wasted the money on the steel zip ties. I had them on so tight I had to cut them off.
