Description:

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

Performance oriented restoration featuring a Ford racing 351W crate motor with Speed Pro forged pistons, hydraulic cam and lifters, roller rockers, Edelbrock RPM heads, ceramic coated Hooker headers and Holley 750. The engine is mated to a Tremec T-5 which transfers power via a customer aluminum drive shaft connected to a Herb McCandless built 4.11 positive traction rear end. Sub frame connectors reduce chassis flex and keep the rear end firmly planted during acceleration. SSBC disc brakes are on all four corners with dual master cylinder and proportioning valve. The car was built between 1996-2004 and has been used sparingly since between owners in NC and FL. Originally an A-code fastback, it still retains its factory rock solid floors and quarters. It's arrow straight with excellent body gaps. Doors shut perfectly with no sag. The base coat, clear coat paint has held up very well since the restoration and I would categorize it as very near show quality with only minor imperfections based on limited use. An R-style front valance gives it a very aggressive look. Stripes are painted on under the clear and look much better than vinyl decals. It's comfortable in town or on the highway and with a light press of the pedal, quickly transformed into a serious performance machine. Simpson belts and a 4-point welded roll bar offer reassurance of safety. Tires are new BF Goodrich Radial T/As installed on American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. Fronts are 215-60R15 and rears are 235s. I've recently installed newly upholstered and rebuilt stock seats, rubber pony mats, new instrument bezel and lens, new glove box door, rear quarter interior lights, billet aluminum low profile wheel centers and exterior mirrors. All replacement parts were the highest quality available. Door panels, arm rests, dash, carpet and headliner were replaced during restoration and remain in excellent condition. Recent maintenance includes air filter, front crank seal, voltage regulator, battery, all hoses and drive belt. Oil change and radiator flush were also just done. This is a very high quality, well built Mustang. It is a blast to drive and receives compliments each time I take it out. I have known this car since the late nineties and have a thick folder of receipts for all work done since then.

I would consider low mileage 997.2 S cars with manual transmission in black or red for trade.
