Default Question on Macan repair quote

Oil leak from valve cover
Oil leak from valve cover
Belt tensioner oil leak
Belt tensioner oil leak
My son moved to Dallas last year after college for work and I gave him my 2018 Macan Turbo with performance package which was shipped down. The Macan has about 98K miles. He had grinding brake noise last week so I advised him to take it to Park Place Porsche Dallas for evaluation. Well the brakes are fine but was told the Macan needs valve cover and belt tensioner replace due to oil leak. $4200 for valve cover and $2600 for belt tensioner. The Macan was throughly service at Northtown Porsche last July before it was shipped to Dallas. Does these service and fee sound right? The belt tensioner I can understand but the valve cover is perplexing. And what is the general opinion of Park Place Porsche Dallas? I have attached couple photos from the service advisor.

The only thing I say is that Porsche parts and service have become a giant financial gouge and an f'you on top that. I went to Porsche dealer once to fix one thing. I will never go back, ever.

Hard to know for sure, Carlos is correct and one of the reasons why I have started my side-business here in DFW is the ridiculous prices that dealers (and even some indys) are charging for parts/labor on these cars.. I've been wrenching on cars my whole life and do all my work on my Porsches, so I figured I could start a business just catering to Porsche owners who care about how their cars are treated while being repaired.

I'm not surprised at the quotes you got, I bought a car from Park Place in Dallas many years ago, but if I were to take my car to a dealership I would chose Grapevine (I have a relationship with the service manager).
Honestly, though, I'd be surprised if ANY of the dealers in the area would charge much less than that.

I just looked up the tensioner and the online price w/ discount is $218 for the part, so that's a lot of labor to get to 2.6k. I'm sure there are other things they are accounting for as well.

As an example, I replaced the cross-over coolant line on a friends Macan S and the dealer was going to charge almost 2.5k, I did it for her for less than a grand.

Good luck in your search.
