there are many many RORO fires - but since they are not "novel" they don't get the press headlines- this is once again simply the fires that receive headlines skewing any perceived "risk"

The fire on the Grimaldi vessel Grande America started in a container stowed on deck of the vessel, Grimaldi told FreightWaves today.
The first and to date only proven EV fire at sea was caused by a converted Qashqai car charging on a car ferry.
Australian group evfiresafe keeps an ongoing tally of EV fires and as of June 30, had verified 393 battery fires globally since 2010.
The fire’s origin was eventually traced to the eighth deck of the 12-deck ship, far from the electric vehicle storage areas

… Just never once thought about this until the recent events that have been covered extensively by media. Again, I don't think there's been anything conclusive on the Felicity Ace tanker ship but never heard of a cargo ship going down due to a car fire before. Then these recent incidents with a tremendous loss of vehicles in each case.
