Macan EV: Who has picked, Porsche Electric Sport Sound ?

Who has picked, Porsche Electric Sport Sound ?
I am not a fan of a canned engine sound but at the same time I feel there needs to be something on a car like this, what do others think?

I go back and forth on this one, it can be fun but more on occasion than daily. On my previous EV, I turned it on maybe 3 times in a year (for the day only).
Makes it a very expensive daily rate…

Although admittedly ridiculous, I ordered it mainly to alert others of my presence from a safety standpoint. In a world full of spaced out people wandering/walking aimlessly while on their phones, a silent car isn't optimal IMO.

This option provides an added (and sportier) sound at all speeds - where hopefully there are no pedestrians when you’re ripping. 😉

EVs have a legal requirement to emit a sound of at least 56 decibels. This artificial engine sound simulates how an ICE car sounds, so that it increases when the car speeds up and decreases when it slows down. The reason for the noise is that the sound helps to alert pedestrians and keep them safe.
So, Porsche Electric Sport Sound added option is not necessary.

I test drove a Taycan with the Porsche Electric Sound option and found that it provided another sensory feedback for speed control (aural feedback in addition to seat of the pants and visual) which made the electric throttle response and pedal control seem more natural, not just when accelerating but also when feathering the pedal or coasting. I will be ordering this option.

My Porsche salesperson made a good point during a Taycan test drive with my wife in the back, that IF you carry new passengers a fair amount (car pooling kids, friends, and similar), the Porsche sound is a soothing element to them when you goose the throttle — especially for back seat passengers. But if not applicable to your usage plans….

I was able to do the Macan EV ride-along at PECLA today. The sound in the video is an accurate representation of the Porsche Electric Sport Sound. The sound really did not add anything for me, but I am looking for a quiet EV; I have ICE Porsches that make plenty of noise. The Macan EV is very quick, in a non-dramatic way compared to ICE. I could see where some might enjoy the sound though. It’s all personal preference, and if you do check the option, it is really easy to turn on or off.

@sparkhill Same here. I'm not interested in fake sound, either. So did not option it. An EV is different to ICE, and prefer the quiet difference.

I test drove a Hummer EV and the fake sounds on that just makes it feel like you're driving a 1985 pickup truck. Switching it off was a lot better.
The option on the Macan is fairly cheap so I will probably spec it and just switch it off if I hate it.
