I have it in my Taycan and wouldn't pay extra for it.

I was out in my iX yesterday and since this is a live thread and I wanted to re-test this for myself, I put it into sport mode and hammered it for a few minutes on a back road (no excuse for spirited driving is ever needed). BMW hired Hans Zimmer to develop their EV sound and despite it coming through its Bowers and Wilkens 1,625 watt super sound system (their equivalent of Porsche’s use of Burmester), after a minute or two I turned it off. The next time I turn it on in the BMW will be when we have a new to the vehicle passenger, for my wife is not enamored with it either.

I think however that the Macan’s sound is a better one for it, so we will wait for our test drive before we make a final decision, for we could choose to keep it in our configuration as it now is.

I just completed the "ride along" in a Macan EV Turbo today at the PECLA. The instructor/driver engaged, then disabled, the Porsche Electric Sport Sound. I thought it was relatively subtle and, surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it. It had a pleasant futuristic whine which deepened and became more throaty under strong acceleration. With the setting disabled, the cabin is whisper quiet and all you hear is some minimal wind/tire noise. Like others have stated it is a personal preference and, though I did not spec it for my build, for those of you who need an aural experience I would definitely recommend it.

Bwahahah - piped in motor sound? Love the quiet car for music both from others and my own. If you're buying an M EV turbo a hack for NHRA dragster noise might be fun for launch mode though.

I ordered the electric sport sound, I'd rather hear this than tire & wind noise. During the PECLA preview, I thought the electric sport sound might be obnoxious (like AMG EQE) but it was quiet and subtle.
The Burmester system on the other hand, did not impress me at all. I did order the Burmester system and hope it's just a preproduction thing and not what I'm actually getting.

I seriously miss our B&W audio system in the M5 we had. Needed a wee bit of eq tuning for rock and blues, but for classical and jazz it was outstanding.

It came standard on our Taycan GTS ST, but I've never turned it on, except by default when selecting sport plus mode. It's very much personal taste, but I find the sound annoying and definitely not something I would add as a paid option.

I agree with you about the fake sound. On my BMW i4 eDrive, I perhaps used it once or twice. Found it off-putting, actually.
We are getting electric car for its own features to appreciate. So it should be that way. Anyway, it comes down to personal choices, in the end.

Default can't enable it as default in "normal" drive mode

According to this post- you can't leave the sport sound on in normal mode- it only works when you change driving modes. Now I'm thinking of dropping it

I'm thinking the opposite and prefer to be able to toggle to normal and have no sport sound. I think most of us will leave the car in sport or sport plus anyway. Normal mode will be used on rainy days.

Oh it’s Sport+ on sunny days and down to Sport on rainy days. 😏

it's cheap it's fun sometimes - better to have it vs. not an you can turn off if you don't like it....I see no reason to skip it.

My granddaughter asked me to turn the sound back on during a spirited EV drive last week (she was in the back seat). She added, “it keeps my vertigo down.” I also slowed down through the curves and stopped super launches from then on.

This idea/solution is what our Porsche BA said when we were doing a Taycan 4S test drive.

@TurboIXXI , in our BMW iX, it reverts to normal mode every time you leave the car. Do you think the Macan will stay in sport mode once you put it there?

I would be very surprised the Macan did.
Cars always starts in Normal.
