French Rallye Drivers pull a "Kibort"
No, they did not dive the dumpster for tires. But they showed a talent for improvising that you rarely see in motorsports. I could see Mark do this - if he had a navigator:

Amazing - I had to laugh when the co-driver jumped in the drivers seat then calmly put his harness on - did he really think that the driver (now the throttle man was going to let him go fast enough to need a harness ???

In one of my lives I drove a taxi in NYC. In the Bronx the accel cable bead broke off at the pedal. I found a coat hanger in the trash and rigged an extension and hand grip and hand throttled it back to the garage. Wasn't so bad actually, and that was a lot faster than waiting on the mechanic to drive up there and get me. This looks like a lot more fun.

Took 20 seconds to put the harness on while the driver was ready to finish under the hood hanging on with just his hands.
Nice. Imagine being the guy at the finish: 'Um, you got a guy under your hood there.'

I had a similar experience once, but it was from Livermore to Berkely with my friend hanging out the passenger window and running the hex linkage of a dual carb setup on a 914 with a pair of vice grips in the dead of night on the freeway. More comfortable than this video, I think. But not as smart.

Was slow climbing the hills into the San Fernando Valley. Luckily it was a Sunday evening and the only traffic I hit was in Santa Barbara, but I had to get off the freeway to let the brakes cool off on the surface streets before continuing.
