Isn't that what the fire extinguisher is for? That would get those boogers. I HATE ants!!! Baaaahhhh!!! Ahem. Excuse me. Sometimes I just can't control myself.

Lemme tell you, it took a lot of self control (mind over pain) to ignore the stinging, focus on the driving, and keep both hands on the wheel. Anyone that has been unfortunate enough to experience our native Texas fire ants first hand can relate...

Well, at least they weren't fire ants! That might merit a red flag!

They were probably just defending themselves from the crabs.

Don't be too hard on the poor fire ant. They do provide a great benefit by eliminating fleas, chiggers, ticks and other vermin that are not fast enough to get out their way. The mounds are normally eways to spot and pour Amdro on. I also use to curse them until I noticed a large drop in the flea population on my dog.

Unfortunately, fire ants are also responsible for the decline in population of the Horned Toad and Quail in Texas (they eat the eggs).

Helpful or not, I still hate 'em. I learned long ago to be wary of gigantic ant hills here in the South. Sebring is full of them. Eek!!!

We have a fire ant mound at TWS that's a bona-fide paddock landmark.
