Dear HWFM admissions,

Honestly, I’m not sure I can aspire to the rarified air that you breathe. The few times I was on a podium, the altitude made me breathless very quickly (oops!). My preferred habitat for breathing is slowly breathing on the accelerator.

I can see that flattery may not take me very far (it takes me too long to get far anyway), but I would like to salute the recent admission of Chipster to the Club. Unlike Chipster, I don’t carry Fat Chicks. I only carry the guilt of being an *** man. I love rear views. That’s all I see at the track with everyone passing me.

I did not go for the AC-delete option. But I’m still looking for the brake-delete option.

For me, being Super Solo is being all by myself at the back of the field.

I drive 911s only because they’re easier to find in the US than Citroens 2CV.

The only time I won a race, I only found out when I got back to the pits. I wonder how that relates to HWFM’s rule #1 regarding podium finishes.

As I have become aware that driving will not take me anywhere, I like to show up at track events with baked goods. Given that the chocolate Napoleon with Vanilla Crème Anglaise pictured below may not be the most practical (although there is no risk I will spill the crème), I may instead show up with Panettones. Talk about slow: candying the orange peel takes an entire week.

In my case, driving and baking are not that different: watching me drive is like watching dough rise.

There will be no replies to this post, as it is directed to someone/someones that we have no knowledge of, nor could we even describe him/her/it/them.

But, here are a couple of thoughts:

1. This is a beer and brat crowd, with some trying to show a bit of sophistication with a martooni or two now and again. VR will elaborate.

2. "The only time I won a race" is not a phrase you EVER want to include in an application, if this is an application....if there were somewhere to apply.

3. Deep_uv is NOT going to like your post at all.

4. Globe may be interested, as he is still looking at the picture (aka Dan P) posted showing Chipster and friend.

5. This is not a "club", it is a team. NO club would allow any of us in, nor would we join if we found one that would.

Besides, I think my 15yo daughter just found a much better candidate. I just dropped her off at her driver's ed class for a driving session. 15 minutes later she sent me the following text message:

"Omg the kid im driving with just crashed the car into a tree"

To him/her/it/them:

1.) It is good to be corrected by an amateur of old Whiskey and the Chief Martini Maker himself about the appropriateness of wanting to join the beer and brat TEAM.
2.) Food Angel probably looks and smells better. But is Food Angel slower than me?
3.) I'm glad Mglobe's daughter is OK. Maybe the 15 yo can sponsor me?
4.) Who would have thought anyone on the team would have RUSHED to judment the way you guys did!
5.) It looks like if I ever join, it will be slowly but not surely.
