Larry--so many spins (and a major-league 944 fire!) at turn 5, this IS really taxing my aging (read eroding) memory. Actually, I do remember this, ahem, "event". The 116 car is Jay, from Suncoast Region. I had my flaggers put out a waving yellow (frantic waving..), ran upstream and leaned over the barrier motioning to approaching drivers to slow down. That IS a great shot! Fortunately all ended well! I think I met you in the garage area at last year's Daytona race--I was talking with Leh and Mac McGehee. Maybe the pic will refresh your memory (or my memory is worse than I realized...).

Bull--I'm sure things have changed since the 70's. We now get a cost-of-living adjustment of 10% over our base salary. Let's see, what's 10% of 0? We get to see great racing close-up (a couple pics from Turn 5 including some turtle car); at the pro events we get to meet many famous and some infamous drivers; they now allow us to stand out in the middle of monsoons like at the 12-Hours this year; at the ALMS races they send over the Pirelli, Martini, Michelin, Ferrari etc. girls for our entertainment; we get hats, shirts, pins, decals etc. Most of all, we know you racers appreciate our efforts!

Rick--how foolish of me to even think of suggesting the concept of "passing"--
how quickly we forget when the mind and memory are slipping!

Doug, I do remember that picture. Leh invited me to be in it too, but I didn't want to ruin it for you.

Doug has made an excellent application here. Giving a pace car the passing flag, and pushing an instructor to check his email while on the track demonstrates true turtle tendencies.

End of a straight, he's still countin' toes.

I like that there is a Porsche SUV in his line in Pic #1 but he kind of lost me with his braging about having over twice my cars HP...

Hmm. Having an all white with the big red ears Turtle might be of some advantage. The mischief that could be perpetrated... Hell even working up a proper turtle name has potental.

My non vote is 2 and a hearty beer fart.

I am also an SCCA certified flagger, usually on volunteer with no pay. He gets my vote for sure. And as our Master Baker (FoodAngel) already said -- GO GATORS. Even if they did lose to the stinking 'Dogs this afternoon.

Wow, you get all shiny new toys to play with! No dinged-up, rusty fire bottles, etc. Glad to hear that the Pit Babes still know who to hang out with....Be careful with the pictures with fast drovers, as they can get you in trouble.

I think Doug has offered up a very complete and will thought out application here. He definitely has many HWFMR attributes! My recommendation (what is all this "vote" crap?) is that he be admitted. I would like to hear his ideas for a team title, although HWFMR Team Handicapper sounds good to me given his ability to "manage" race results.

One of the worthiest applications this team has ever received. Plus it had pictures, so VR could participate too.

Outstanding job Mr W.

I saw he be admittedpost haste (a rather rare term here)

No we need a team function...

any more ideas for Doug's job?
