Hey Frank, can you give me a condensed version? I don't feel like reading all your drivel. Is this letter an advertisement to drive/flog more student cars that you can't afford to fix if/when you wad them up?

Frank -
I can't beleive you replied with that. I have not heard anything like that since 2nd grade - and here you are, trying to dig yourself out of a hole and you end up digging deeper and deeper and deeper.

BTW - You are almost certain to get skewed results from your request. There is a marketing stat that only 1 out of 20 unhappy customers will ever say anything. If you apply that to your request for feedback, then each negative represents ~10% of the people you have ever instructed. There is no coressponding stat on positive feedback. Also, when you ask for such feedback (indicating that you are being attacked) you encourage supporters to speak up but that tends to silence anyone who would not be supportive. You have set this up to get the answer you want, not necessarily the answer that is accurate. Good luck anyway.

You miss my point about marketing - I am not talking about the whole world - only those students you have instructed. You have biased the answer you will get. Based on marketing statistics, every negative feedback you get from a student of YOURS really represents 10% of all YOUR students.

I understand. I hope to learn from negative feedbacks/constructive criticisms I get.

i concur with mark's marketing comments. but i think frank is just trying to explain not only his teaching and philosophy, but his whole personality. not everyone will like it and i don't think frank expected everyone to like it either. but i think the fact he wrote the letter is a good attempt to make some gesture about the whole "situation"...

but no more smart axx comments. it only make things worse.

wait, not quite right. 1 out of 20 = 5%. so it means each 1 neg feedback = 5% of unhappy customers not 10% of total student population.

did i not understand it right?

If there are 20 unhappy customers, you can expect only 1 to actually tell you. Thus for every one that says something, you assume they are speaking for 20 people.

I take back what I said before. This is now the funniest thing I have read in the past 12 hours:

quote:
by Frank on PDC email List
Some people have asked me, what makes me think I can properly/safely handle the student car and guarantee nothing can ever go wrong. My answer is, DE is a controlled and safe environment; if it was not a safe environment, we shouldn't be having DE's to begin with. There are some variables such as potentially other cars dropping oil or coolant, or perhaps other dangerous drivers running wild and being hazardous... but these are easily with in the control of the driver if he has a smart head and is fully aware of the surroundings.

Frank, you sir are an arrogant ***. Ask the CART and other real racers about smart heads helping to control a car that has hit coolant or other slick spot. You continue to amaze, and I am sure its not just me who is amazed by your utter lack of knowledge, understanding and common sense. I am just the one speaking up against your idiotic rants, ideas, thoughts, practices, methods, words and any other crap that eminates from your brain and your keyboard.

Just because you think it is close to racing, do the other cars around you feel the same? I have do lots of DE and a fair # of wheel to wheel races under my belt and I could write a book on the difference between the two if I was so inclined. I have never heard anyone say they are the same/similar after experiencing both. My guess is you will make a similar discover when you do a race. Why don't you get Barry Hartzel to rent you a SM for the next race and report back?
