Yes, even the smells are special.
Congrats and enjoy!

I share your sentiment with the maintenance part of the equation as it is one of my concerns. However the more research I did from actual Ferrari owners (not just ones with problems) I found out that it's not nearly as bad as you think. Plus I will be doing all maintenance and repairs other then the clutch as I do not have the equipment to set the parameters.however I will not track it as I am a little to paranoid about it. S will see all track time now also giving me more relief that if I total it I only lost 10k instead of 100k GT4.
yes...the clutch is one of those things you need to go to the F dealer. I agree on the track issue with the gt4... when I'm on the track with the GT4 it would be vary rare if I take it to 9-10/10th....that part of damaging the car is always lingering in there.
My solution? I'm looking at salvage 981 S with PDK with the idea of building a pure track car...and building it would be half the fun as I love tinkering with cars and have done several race cars in the past...or....buy a used race car, maybe a Radical or something along those lines. But if I get the green light to purchase another street car and F car would be high on the list as I have never owned one.

I traded a 360 spider for my GT4 and while the Ferrari was fun I do not miss it one bit. I upgraded the f1 in my 360 to the f430 computer and while I loved it at first eventually it became annoying with the delay and jerkiness in shifting. The Ferrari definitely got morelooks at lights and gas stations but getting stranded on the side of the highway on the way back from Daytona and the subsequent $6k repair (alternator and alternator harness) on a car with 13k miles and a clean ppi turned me off of F cars for the foreseeable future.
That being said your F430 is beautiful and I hope you have many trouble free miles in your future. Just giving another view for people who may see this thread later.

I was saying the cars are in the same vain they provide the exact same sensations on the road. Yes the GT has a nicer interior, faster, and more capable then the S. For daily road use though the S was more fun to "me" also took more concentration to drive at 6-7ths on mountain roads. Interior wise to be honest I could care less as long as the seats are nice. There is nothing wrong with the GT at all but for lower speed driving it is not very exciting. Unlike the S where it feels like your going 90 when your only doing 45. For me the GT was perfection when pushing it but doing that is few and far between on the streets. Where in the S is so low on power you can beat on her all day long without destroying the speed limits. They both corner extremely flat so you still get the superb handling at normal speeds. If you push it the S also gives a little more adrenaline in the fact that you know the rear end can snap back at you at anytime. For a track car there is no comparison the GT is leagues and leagues beyond the S. If I had time to track the car more often I most likely would of kept the GT but when I only go maybe once a year it just wasn't making sense to me anymore. Once again the GT is the far superior car but for street driving "I " prefer the S. Not trying to sway anyone from there cars because I still think it's the best one on the market just trying to better explain my decision. The Ferrari was purchased because I always wanted one as a child and it provides an entirely different driving experience then the GT4 and S.
this is what I hear. Lower limit cars that are slower and can't handle as well, are more fun cause it feels like it's going to lose control and lower speeds. Argument just basically pointless to me and makes no sense.

this makes no sense. Might as well say anything cheaper with lower limits to be a "better drive" vs a gt4 on the streets because it feels like it's going to lose it at much lower speeds. The whole argument is pointless.

Love the GT4 but the most fun car I ever had just driving around town was my BMW e28 M5 on skinny 225 tires. I would get another one of they weren't trading at almost $50k.....

Congrats with the f car. I don't know this from experience but I have heard that the transmission will eat the clutch much faster if the car is reversed uphill often, like backing into a garage with an inclined driveway. I also agree with the s2000 comparison. Please update after more time with the f car for those of us that don't have one.

Like others have already said, I agree with your comparison of the GT4 to the S2000, especially if the S2000 has been somewhat modded for track duty. For me the GT4 is like a modded S2000 cranked up to 11 straight out of the box, comes with a factory warranty, brand prestige and performance pedigree. GT4 is obviously more compliant and luxurious while the S2000 is more raw but lacks power and grunt but somehow embodies the same sports car ethos and essence and punch above their weight.
Congrats on the F430, seems like a logical progression up the performance car food chain from the S2000 and the GT4. Enjoy in good health

Thanks for all the kind words guys. My exhaust comes in today and I will give another update when I have a chance to take her up into the mountains. As for the F1 I try almost to never put it in reverse because I know it slips the clutch a lot while in reverse.

Already doing the exhaust? You got to upload clips! The V8 sound on a Ferrari with a nice exhaust is one of those things that you never forget.

The F430 was available in an MT6 also, strange you would chose the F1 over Manual to compare against a manual only GT4.
There are forum threads on the F430 single clutch system and subsequent failure. With the F1 actuator that is posted as an $18,000.00 part with $8,000.00 labor. Things get worse from there.
It is the dealers too.
They make some of the Porsche prices seem cheap

430 Scud is my all time favorite car. So many senses are attacked when you drive it. Also a pretty robust platform as Ferraris go from what I hear.
