Porsche GT4 LW (Lightweight)

i took everything out of the interior except the floor carpet to fit a full roll cage and was hoping the interior bits would weigh more to off set the cage but they weight just about nothing. only slightly heavy part is the carpet and foam insulation behind the seats. roof liner was impressively light i couldn't believe it.

Kind of a silly discussion. It's already a 29xx lb car with most of the creature comforts so all of that cost & effort to shed MAYBE 100lb isn't worth it. If you want to improve the power-to-weight, that money is better spent on an engine build or driver coaching - because most of the guys who think like this are still a long way off from setting any track records and there's no sense ruining a great car.
It costs nothing but your time to remove weight from the car. I see nothing wrong with it. Take out what you can put back in the car.
My particular car has never been outside the track and the paddock. I've never even driven it on a street before. Never used the radio once. Never used the A/C once. Removing unnecessary weight that costs me only my time is not a big deal. If/when I sell the car I will put all the components back in and return the car to stock. In fact, the next owner will benefit from interior pieces that have zero wear on them. All my interior parts including seats and carpet are boxed and stored.
Just food for thought.

Well it sounds like you should have just bought a Clubsport -- which is only 84lb lighter.
The problem with removing all of that stuff, is that to gain a couple of tenths around a track you aren't competing on, you've made your car ****ty to drive every where else.

It's not the having it's the getting and build up excitement via discussion.
You spend an additional $10K to make your mountain bike drop 3lbs....it's a disease i think.

My car has PCCB, Forgeline 19" GS1R wheels, lightweight flywheel
and MCS 2-way dampers set up for track. So it's pretty light,
and it's not that comfortable for the street.
Probably easier to beat any weight savings just by driving on Hoosiers
on the track.
I agree with the point that it's far easier to improve the driver. Unless
you are already holding track records, it's much easier to gain time
just getting better at driving.

Ohhh lets not start the bike weight discussion PLEASE.....it's a disease all right but a fun and expensive one. When you start ordering $30 carbon bolts from Schmolke in Germany you know you are way pass rehab!!!
