New GT4 windshield prices?
Hey guys.. last time driving to a track day I was blessed with a rock chip that turned into a crack. So it's new windshield time.
I called Porsche of fremont to get a quote they said ~860 for the windshield and ~270 for installation. This seems somewhat excessive so I was wondering if any of you had your windshield replaced and what the cost was.
I'm still new to this P-car thing. Haha, so go easy on me guys

Burning Brakes
I have not but to be honest, that doesn't seem anywhere near as bad as I would have expected it to be. I'm not suggesting you use them but why not call someone like Safelite and ask what they'd charge just to get an idea?

Ok cool. Sounds like I'm not getting hosed then.
I'm guessing the windshield is fancy because it has what looks like antennas embedded, plus I'm guessing the installer has to be carful with the auto wiper sensor.

Correct. The guy that has done mine always asks for the VIN to order the glass from Porsche.

Same thing happened to me, chip (from last weekend at Summit) in what's defined as the driver's view so Safelite won't fill it. It's not cracking (yet) so haven't done full replacement. I'll probably end up getting another rock to the window anyways. My daily has had two windshields replaced in less than three years.

That is the right ball park figure for the NYC area as well.
Keep an eye on how the A-pillar alcantara cover is reinstalled into that corner of the dash. I wish I still had a photo to show you. This area is only visible when the door is opened.
Basically trace the outline of the A-piller cover down to where it ends in the door jam.
It's very tricky to line it up and insert it properly once removed to install the glass. I had a gap there that drove me nuts until I found someone familiar with getting that slot back in properly.

My dealer quoted me $1700. I got an online quote from Safelite for $510. Anyone have experience with Safelite??? Any issues with the workmanship or quality of (non-OEM) glass?

As long as you insist that Satellite use OEM glass (that you can verify), my experience is that they do a great job, and I would trust them more than most because that's their only business. Pricing seems a little low, but probably depends upon locale.

I got a big boy chip last summer during a charity drive. Luckily they could fill it and it hasnt spread (yet). Not looking forward to that bill when it comes.
