^ I think after March 7th many may do this. I have pre-sold a car once before in anticipation for another toy and the 8 months was too much to bare. Had no toy for the Spring and Summer and the money I thought I saved was not worth the agony of not having fun.

Just my $.02 but every one is motivated differently

The older you get the bigger the percentage of your usable time. I'm no longer a fan of selling and waiting.

Do you have a guess at where MSRP might be? $175k?

With that said, I'm most likely looking at a 991.1 GT3 in addition to the GT4. I think there will be as many 991.2 GT3 built as requested, without the 9k redline of the .1. The GT4 as of today is a one year run, and my car is a PTS. Hard to give that up.

I haven't been told...but I haven't asked. I'd expect somewhere around 140-150 base msrp. Easily 170-180 with options.

I think the starting price should be close to $140k (hopefully less). IMO, the only necessary options are LWB's and Light Flywheel which would hopefully keep it well under $150k.

Last RS was $175k and 911R was $184k (with PCCB). No way will a standard GT3 approach those prices (last GT3 was $130k with PDK-S).

Even a 7.5% price hike (max rumored) would keep base price in the $130's...

And rumored Nurburgring time faster than 991.1 GT3 RS (with PDK-S version)...

If it really gets to $175K or more before the nearly inevitable dealer premium, I'll just buy a .1 RS.

Dealer premiums aren't inevitable if people don't agree to pay them. And some dealers won't ask for a premium on principle (these dealers deserve our business).

I think there are one or two and there is no need to purchase the car from a local dealer if you can't find a fair one.

No need to rehash the whole dealer premium discussion. That dead horse was flogged a week or two ago in the GT3 forum.

I am on the list for a 991.2 GT3. I love my GT4 but I have always wanted a GT3. Can't keep both so if I get one, I will have to decide which one to keep.
No reason to make a decision yet since I haven't actually been offered a GT3

What about the issue of mid-engine vs rear-engine? Is it important? Significant?

Absolutely. I prefer the smaller dimensions and weight of the 981, but I like the rear-engine balance of a 911. Everyone has an opinion here. Most prefer how responsively and quickly a mid-engine car changes directions. Nothing to fault until you reach the limit, at which point I find the 911 much more playful and easy to manage with opposite lock (mid-engine cars tend to want to spin more quickly and are harder to catch). Also love the tremendous traction of a 911 on corner exit.

991 also has a multi-link rear suspension that maintains camber as it moves through its travel, while the 981's strut rear suspension has less desirable changes in geometry as it moves through its travel.

In my case, hopefully an "and" vs an "or". There is a lot to forego in the GT4, especially the brilliant mid-engine layout, but then again a visceral high revving 125hp per liter NA engine would be sublime.

I honestly cannot see Porsche continuing to make a manual NA GT3 for too long. This may very well be the last generation of such car (though I know we thought the same after seeing the 991.1 have a PDK only and felt we will never see the return of the manual). Next gen (i.e. post 991.2) is likely 4+ yrs away, and retaining both NA engine + manual may be a thing of the past...

Really excited about the 991.2, and that's the main purpose of my Geneva trip next month Will be happy to share visual content.
