Default Fabspeed GT4 Hits Targa Australia Rally!

A few months ago I received a call from a fellow by the name of Tim Hendy over in Australia, a proud owner of a GT4 and who happened to be planning to enter the Targa High Country Rally. Needless to say he was looking for some more power to run on par with a very competitive crowd. We were happy to accommodate his requests and set him up with our Race Headers, Valvetronic Exhaust System, BMC Filters and a COBB Accessport/Protune.

This past weekend the event kicked off on Friday. Here are some highlight videos from the event.

Tim sent me an update during the event with the following update:

"With the new Fabspeed exhaust it has been voted the best sounding car from over 200 entries……we are currently sitting in third place with 2 days left to run. Steve your ‘anti-kangaroo’ tune is working well "

Yesterday he finished the event in 5th place out of the 200 entries, and was kind enough to send us these teaser of his in car footage. Enjoy!

Totally agree! That looks like an incredible amount of fun.

It's our GT450 package minus the IPD components. We provided a custom Protune for the Accessport or peak performance.

Alright i'm back! Here is some more footage I received from Tim...an extended clip of a flyby during the Rally and some footage of him hitting Bathurst for the first time in years they've allowed road cars on the track. Some glare in the video, but still pretty cool footage haha.

Props to Andrew (Snowman) who is in the Bathurst video driving the blue GT4. Driver mods won out and he threw down lap times that day that crowned him fastest of the event

Can't get this one in show up properly but you can follow the link

Yeah the Rally driving is no joke! On my bucket list to do one of those events in Australia, what an incredible experience it must be Any mods done to your GT4 so far, and are you hitting the track as well?

Lol oh come on that's not that common, at least they don't have IMS or bore scoring issues

You better start posting some sick videos yourself Mr. Billion Posts! And when are you coming to visit, you're right around the corner

Great stuff. Rallies on public roads look pretty daunting--no runoff, lots of trees...

Car sounds amazing. So much louder from outside. Definitely wouldn't pass sound limits at Lime Rock.

Agreeed, rally drivers are probably the most impressive I have come across especially those who do WRC. Absolutely nuts haha.

Yeah there is no way our full kit would pass Limerock haha. However, I do have a GT4 client of mine that is running our Race Headers, standard 981 Maxflo Exhaust, and a set of our turn downs and he said he passed Limerock by 2db the last time he was there. What are you currently running?

Also, there is a thread around here somewhere of a homemade GPS activated PSE controller, so if you know where the sound recording equipment is you can set the controller to close the valves as you pass the recording site and open back up once passed it.

John

Would your turn down tips fit over the standard GT4 exhaust tips?

They would not, that requires replacing the factory tip assembly with our X-Tip design. You can then switch between the turn downs and our Carbon Fiber tips (or whichever you choose) and by loosing up the clamps that hold the tips on.
