Harry's Laptimer Setup + GoPro mount for GT4 + Great Exhaust Audio
#46
Oh, and I built a custom RAM mount adapter for it that I will include if bought by a Rennlist enthusiast! Then if you add any RAM mount you can bolt the gps device to the windshield or other parts of the car instead of using the sticky mat.

I used this thread for my video setup, and it works great
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I just finished making a tutorial video for configuring the HERO5 and mounting it using the Manfrotto Super Clamp:

Thanks for all the info. It is this thread to get me started with the Harry's Laptimer + GoPro Session setup, and love it. But I'm having problem to get the video from GoPro to the phone to let HLT to make the video! My HLT setup and runs fine, and control the GoPro Session record/stop fine. It's I can't seem to be able to get the video from the GoPro back to the phone for HLT to do the overlapping video?? Is there any detailed step by step instruction around? Tried HLT web side FAQ, not helping.
I do "sometimes" see the video from the GoPro in HLT's Video Lists, but it seems like the video is too long (12 mins, 2GB) for the phone to download from GoPro directly via wireless/bluetooth or whatever they two connected.
I could manually drag and drop the 12mins/2GB file (I think it's my Session's file limit/setting) onto HLT via iTune. But then it's a big 12 mins video that I'll need to find and manually trim the video for each lap!
Any tips/advice would be appreciated guys.

Once the video is on the phone, HLT attaches it to each lap if you want to export individually.
Here's an example - but many brands available:

Thanks guys
LandShark, I also have some feedback regarding getting the videos onto the phone.
I bought the , which is a microSD to Lightning adapter. It allows me to super quickly copy the MP4 files into the iOS gallery, saving me the roundtrip of copying to a computer, then slowly coping via lightning cable to an iPhone. It works well with GoPro and Fujifilm formatted cards, but it refused to behave with the Sony X3000 output. Possibly because the Sony doesn't use the standard DCIM directory structure...
1080p 30fps and 60fps work correctly, but the GoPro app told me that 2.7k and 4k playback was problematic on my iPhone. As a result, I'm sticking with 1080p@60fps for GoPro track day recordings.
Once I have the video files on my phone, I use iMovie (free on iOS) to merge the segmented files. The Hero 5 splits files into 4 GB chunks, but I need a continuous clip for a single session.
After that, I have a single video file that I can import into my preferred track app. I use the Porsche Track Precision app, but this workflow should also work with HTL.
Feel free to ping me if you run into any issues.

I use airdrop as well. sorry for the delay in responding. Good idea on merging the clips! Also, it's important to get a microSD card with the highest read /write speeds for the go pro. Otherwise you will face choppy video.

I did a search and I cant find the thread for Harrys on an Android or crackberry, Is there one? Im going to ditch iOS for googleplay/android/blackberry? Can my goPro link into android running Harrys on this?
Im thinking of a 130mmx90mm might help with mounting. Anyone use this Blackberry Passport for a one device does it all
edit ooops wrong thread but since you already read this...?

Hi, Sorry haven't had time to write back. The black rubber mount came with the XGPS. I then just used ordinary double sided tape (the kind you use with an EZPASS). It will be available at most hardware stores.

For anyone interested, I have an XGPS160 unit with a custom RAM mount adapter (RAM suction cup unit itself not included, but the custom adapter to the RAM ball is) that I'll let go for $100 shipped. Comes in the original XGPS160 box and friction mount enclosure as well.
PM me if interested.

Thanks for the info! No worries on the delay. I was just being impatient because I'm desperately trying to get something put together before my next track day coming soon. Just ordered the 150.
