I just called my local Porsche center and they told me that there is no recall in their system as of yet.
BUT, the service advisor also told me that unofficial he can tell there will be a recall also here in Austria. So guys for me this is enough confirmation! I will get a new transmission straight away!

I'd be bummed if they recall elsewhere and not in the US. I'd much rather have mine replaced proactively than wait for it to fail and then have to bring it in. Now would be perfect timing. It's still cold here in the midwest and leaving the car at the dealer for a couple weeks is not an issue. Once summer rolls around it'll be tougher to part with it.

I think if the recall is world wide and not in the US good old class action lawyers will take care of this...

as soon as we get something in writing from those in recall countries, I think I will consult my friend (who happens to be a money hungry lawyer)

In Germany the dealers called / emailed the GT4 owners, no letter (yet?). I get the new one on Monday.

I think everyone should chill and be patient. I would assume the US has one of the largest number of GT4s in the world. They may be gradually doing countries/regions based on the speed they can produce them. No point recalling 3000 gearboxes at once if its going to take you 12 months to produce enough.

Mine has already failed and been replaced (6 months ago) so will be interesting to see if they replace it again as someone stated above.

I am in Australia and haven't heard anything about a recall.

One of the very latest, built 08/16. Already on second gearbox. GT4s built prior to 11/15 are not recalled.

Just got a letter in the mail (in Australia).

Titled "WJ88 Workshop Campaign", requesting I bring my GT4 in for a replacement "optimised transmission with reinforced gear wheels". The reason given is "In this instance, due to the high performance characteristic of the drive train, we discovered that the gear wheel for the 3rd gear may become substandard over its service life and may fail under high performance driving resulting in a loss of 3rd gear". They say it'll take two days and will give me a loan car for the duration.

Wow great service from Porsche. In my experience, certainly better than what I've received from Alfa Romeo....

I'm pretty sure this would be the 1st Australian transmission recall. :-)

Forgive my laziness, but... can anyone give me a summary of where we are on this issue? I just posted in the transmission failure "database" thread after 3rd gear went out on my GT4 at Texas Motorsport Ranch yesterday morning :-(

Is there anything I should know before I bring the car in to the dealer? Anything I should tell them? Is there a recall I should be referring to? (Looks like the answer is no to that last one)

... And can I expect whatever fix they implement to be permanent? (In theory, at least, not the same issue as before... sounds like everyone is getting a new transmission, so hopefully that's a pretty definitive fix)

Thanks for any help!
