GT4 G81 Transmission Failure

Is there a way to check if my GT4 has had the transmission replaced? I just bought one and the dealer didn't mention anything about it. Mine has a build date of 1/16 on the door tag.

YES THE DEALER CAN CHECK FOR YOU. They will be more than happy to do yours. they get paid for that. Just picked mine up today from the replacement.

New here to the forum. Lots of great articles. I know this is a GT4 transmission failure thread. My question seems related.
I have a 981 Cayman S 3.4L with manual (no LSD) w/ 73k miles. never been tracked. A week ago, my 5th and 6th gears suddenly had no power transfer. R & 1-4 all work fine. I suspect a broken or loosened bolt on the 5-6 selector fork. Looks like there are no assembly manuals (with gap specs & seating torques) or replacement parts for Getrag Transmissions. So it seems an MT swap is in my future. Dealer quoted $14k with an option to get $2.6k credit for the replaced tranny if Porsche of Germany deems it rebuildable (post swap!).
I'd seriously like to do the work myself, but with no assembly specs and replacement parts available, I can't predict a favorable outcome.
From my 981 shop manual, it seems the MT P/N (no LSD) is 981 300 010 with 4 suffix options: 01, X, AX, 21. Does anyone know what the suffixes are for? Is that for Base, S, GTS, & GT4 ??
Any suggestions as to next steps from the forum would be helpful.

But i guess you never REALLY know for sure... I'll be very curious if someone outside of those build dates has a failure.

I'm fairly positive there has been a failure on a GT4 built before 11/30/15 because there isn't a defined vin number range affected. my car is CPO until august so I'll probably go do some 3rd gear pulls and make sure its not going to let go before the warranty is up lol

I am looking at a 2016 GT4 built in May 2016, and gave the VIN to my dealer here in Canada. They said there is no record of any transmission replacement, and no service campaigns open right now to do it. Has the window for this repair passed now?

I cannot speak with 100% certainty about Canada, but I believe it is still covered. You might try reaching out to Porsche Canada directly...or try another dealer.
